Last Thursday was the annual Miss Noche Latina Pageant held at the Manor Complex. It was clearly the busiest pageant held at the Manor as the place was packed and the pageant was fabulous. In the end, the new Miss Noche Latina is Athena Dion. She brought it in every category, but the category that stole my heart was her creative evening wear. All I can say is SICK! I found out afterwards that it was an original Erika Norell design. She needs to be the first transsexual on Project Runway. The big surprise was that Alyson Thomas was crowned for a second year in a row as Miss Noche Latina Elite: She was just too good to let go.  From all of us at Hotspots Media Group we wish both Athena and Alyson huge congratulations! Starting Thursday night and going all weekend long in different locations (Azucar, Palace, Discotekka) T.P. Lords celebrated her birthday with all of South Florida. Hotspots Magazine& Juan Saco Mironoff would like to wish TP a very happy birthday and many more to come.  Sunday night I finally had a chance to go to Off The Hookah for Life’s A Drag Sundays. I hadn’t been there since it was Voodoo and WOW the owners have done a phenomenal job transforming this club. If you haven’t been, check it out! It was great catching up with hostess Daisy D and of course the cast (Erika and T.P.).

Sunday afternoon was the memorial service for one of South Florida’s most beloved community members, Eric Lawrence. The church was so packed it was standing room only. Eric touched everyone’s lives that he came in contact with. He was a special man and he will be very missed.

WHSF This Is Hto-SMASH

This is HOT

NBC and Columbia Records announced that the soundtrack for Bombshell, the musical within NBC’s Golden Globe-nominated series television hit “Smash” (Tuesdays, 10-11pm ET), will be released on February 12 (available now for pre-order). Bombshell will contain 22 original songs that make up the Broadway-caliber cast recording of the musical, complete with liner notes detailing the plot of Bombshell. The soundtrack features stars Katherine McPhee (Karen), Megan Hilty (Ivy Lynn), and other cast members performing the original music created for the show’s musical-within-a-musical by Tony and Grammy award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. “Smash” has been honored with Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. The show returns for a second season on Tuesday, February 5 at 9pm ET with a special two-hour episode. The songs on the Bombshell soundtrack will span both seasons of “Smash.” NBC’s “Smash” celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross-section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire – to be a “Smash.”  Evolving from an idea of executive producer and multiple Emmy and Oscar winner Steven Spielberg, the series unites the hit-making Broadway writing team of Julia Houston (Debra Messing), and Tom Levitt (Christian Borle) with producer Eileen Rand (Anjelica Huston), to create a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, and seasoned chorus girl Ivy Lynn (Hilty) vies with newcomer Karen Cartwright (McPhee) for the role of a lifetime. In Season 2, the “Bombshell” team is one step closer to achieving their Broadway dream. The Boston run was the success the team was hoping for, but they are all about to learn even a charmed show cannot avoid paying for sins of the past.  Guest stars in season two include Jennifer Hudson, Sean Hayes, Jesse L. Martin, and Liza Minnelli. “Smash” is from Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television.
