A week ago Monday, Palace Bar had the finals for Palace Drag Race and this season’s winner was Shacoya Hinez Iman Dupree….CONGATS! Thursday night, I went to the press night for Wicked at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and once again this show is just amazing fun. If you haven’t bought your tickets, go to Broward Center.org, as the show plays through February 17th. Friday was a busy night with the soft opening of Rumors (in the old Matty’s location) and Hilton Wolman’s Sail-A-Way party at Exit 66 for the Atlantis Cruise. DJ Abel took over the turntables for the excited crowd, who were getting ready to board their cruise the next day for 8 days of fun (yes this year they added an extra day).  Juan Saco Mironoff (Miami Gay Blog, Hotspots Magazine and Genre Latino) celebrated his birthday this weekend in 2 parts. It started Saturday night at Discotekka and continued Sunday night at Azucar during their Escandalo Cabaret show. On Sunday afternoon Bear Nation’s, Tony Lima, celebrated his birthday at the Palace.  Sunday Night was the biggest Sports game of the year, The Super Bowl. Although almost every bar had a Super Bowl Party (also known as the Beyonce Bowl) I chose to watch it (for the 4th year in a row) at our Gay Sports bar in Fort Lauderdale, Sidelines. To say Sidelines was packed would be an understatement. Congrats once again to Laurie and Jennifer for putting on an amazing Super Bowl party!

From one of Hollywood’s boldest and most daring production companies comes The World According to Wonder, a wildly glamorous book featuring never-before-seen photos and exclusive stories from some of the world’s most controversial, exposed and interesting personalities. The World According to Wonder is the premier publication from the LA-based production company World of Wonder, co-founded by award-winning filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.  The book is not simply a celebration of 21 years of production and people; it also has a story to tell.  Bailey and Barbato began at the dawn of reality television, and they skillfully track the continued rise of this revolutionary format through their modest triumphs and abysmal failures.  Their joyful passion for telling the stories of those on the margins of society is at the heart of this collector’s item that is at once a coffee table book and a conversation piece.

With nearly 400 pages and 300 never-before-seen original personality portraits shot mostly by famed photographers Idris Rheubottom and Tony Craig, the book brings to together Pamela Anderson, Chaz Bono, Andy Cohen, Elvira, Linda Evangelista, Larry Flynt, Perez Hilton, La Toya Jackson, Kato Kaelin, Imelda Marcos, Joey Ramone, RuPaul, Chloe Sevigny, Ultra Naté, Dita von Teese, John Waters, Carnie Wilson and Holly Woodlawn—among many others.
