We just said goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014, and pageant season is here in Florida. Over the next two months there are many pageants that will be held across the state, and I have taken the liberty to highlight the ones we know about below:
Kurt King and the USofA Pageantry system present Gay Florida USofA: Miss, Plus, and Classic, on Sunday, January 19th at The Honey Pot (1507 East 7th Avenue, Tampa). The night will star the current reigning national court: Shae Shae Lareese, Orlando’s Angelica Sanchez, and Tampa’s (and Hotspots’) own Amy Demilo, as well as Anjila Cavalier, Desiree Demornay and Danielle Hunter. The 10th annual Miss and Mr. Noche Latina Pageant will take place on Wednesday, January 
22nd at Coliseum Miami (3635 NW 78th Avenue in Doral, Miami). Doors open at 9 p.m. with the pageant starting at 10 p.m., starring the reigning court, Athena Dion, Raul Vegas and Alyson Thomas, along with the formers: Erika, Champagne, Maite, Amanda, Alyssa, Victoria, Sheena, Viva Sasha, Lady Charise, Francina, Yuri, Lewis, Jose N, AJ, Adrial, and Josue. Celebrating their 10th anniversary are Jose Vega and Vegas Dion. The categories include: presentation (red), talent, Q&A, eveningwear and swimwear (for the men only). General admission is $15 in advance or at the door before 9:30 p.m. and $20 thereafter. Table seating is $20 in advance or at the door before 9:30 and $25 thereafter. On Monday, February 10th, Alyson Thomas presents the annual Carolina’s Continental pageant (Miss, At Large, Elite and Mister) at Mekka Nightclub (950 NE 2nd Avenue). Doors open at 8 p.m. with the pageant starting at 9 p.m. The pageant will be emceed by Nikki Adams, Electra and Sasha Sommers and will star (the current court of Continental); Naysha Lopez, Farra N. Hyte, Kourtney Paige Van Wales and Kalil Valentino as well as Erika, Channel, Lakesha, Lola, Gina, Athena, Poizon, Ginger, Danielle, Antonio, Phillip and the court giving up the Carolina Titles: Jose Vega, Victoria Grantty, Stasha Sanchez, Fontasia Lamour and Joanna James, as well as many more. The Parliament House (410 N Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando) will be the home for the 7th 
annual Miss Large and Lovely National Pageant on February 17th at 8 p.m. The talented Daphne Ferraro will be stepping down from the title. Girls will compete in evening gown, Q&A, talent and sexy lingerie. Miss Large & Lovely is open to any female impersonator who is 220 pounds or more. Tickets are $18 in advance and are available at ANRtickets.com ($25 at the door).
Under new ownership by Keith Allen, Adam Northorpe and Franchesque Richards (A.K.A. Three Sissies Productions), the Miss Florida Continental Pageant will once again be a show not to be missed, happening on February 17th. The prize package this year includes the top three winner awards sponsored by Tiffany & Co. including a beautiful crystal vase trophy for the winner, and a special-made crown and matching jewelry set by Sharde Ross. The prize packages also include over $3,500 in prizes and almost $2,000 in cash to the winners. They are fortunate this year to be holding the pageant at the beautiful Lips restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Seating begins at 7:00 p.m. and the show will start at 8:00 p.m. Starring in this year’s pageant are the reigning Miss Florida Continental Poizon Ivy, The reigning Miss Continental Naysha Lopez, former Miss Continental Erika Norell, former Miss Continental / Continental Elite Dana Douglas, former Miss Continental Tasha Long, former Miss Continental Danielle Hunter, former Miss Continental Elite Nikki Adams, and former Miss Florida Continentals Vegas Dion and Champagne Bordeaux. Tickets are $60 for VIP (includes champagne), $40 preferred and $20 general. The after party will be held at the Boardwalk.
Latrice Royale Inc. presents the Miss Pride South Florida pageant called “The Legends Ball” on February 24th at Hunters Nightclub in Wilton Manors. This year’s pageant is packed with excitement, and a prize package worth over $3500! Honoring our current Queen Porsha Chambers who has done an outstanding job during her reign, we are also celebrating Latrice Royale’s 10 year anniversary as Miss Pride South Florida 2004! As if that’s not enough excitement, Miss Pride South Florida will be honoring our community’s very own legends, Electra, Nikki Adams, and Tiffany Arieagus! To host this spectacular event, The Lady Tajma Hall (Miss Continental Plus, Miss Gay USofA at Large) will be flying in from the Windy City of Chicago! The show will also feature some of our amazing local talent so you don’t want to miss this. General admission is $10 at the door.
