The Miami Beach Botanical Gardens will be hosting its 9th annual Taste of the Garden fundraiser on Thursday, January 30, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Gardens are located at 2000 Convention Center Drive in Miami Beach. Over 300 people are expected as they will be allowed to sample food and drink from over 20 restaurants and chefs from all over South Florida.

A silent auction will also take place, against the backdrop of the beautiful flowers and live entertainment and music. Restaurant gift certificates, jewels and jewelry, travel packages and hotel stays are among the gifts being auctioned off to benefit the Botanical Gardens and the Miami Beach Garden Club.

The Garden Club, whose headquarters are on the grounds of the Botanical Gardens, started this event in 2006, after Hurricane Wilma damaged the Gardens the autumn before. The Miami Beach Garden Club and the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens are now partners in putting on the event and both staffs present the fundraiser to friends of the organization and the venue.

Funds raised by the Taste of the Garden event go directly to the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens for the upkeep of its urban greenspace. They also allow the Botanical Gardens to give out free admission to all who visit, to create arts and education programs, and to support the Miami Beach Garden Club and their programs involving environmental wellness and plant education, including but not limited to gardening and tree planting.

If you are interested in attending the fundraiser, individual tickets cost $85 ($100 after January 25). You can purchase tickets by going to tinyurl.com/tastegarden. Any other questions can be directed to Cindy Brown at (305) 673-7256, extension 206, or via her e-mail at cbrown@mbgarden.org.
