Week 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race season six brought my favorite challenge of the season, “Snatch Game.” Although this year, they played it much earlier in the season and hence had many more celebrities. As is the case every season we had the great: Bianca, Ben, and Adore (yes, I did say Adore); the good: Courtney, Darienne, Joslyn; and the bad: Trinity, Gia, Milk and Laganja. In the end it was Gia’s lackluster Kim Kardashian that sent her sashaying away.

At what age did female impersonation become an interest and how did you pick your name?

I started when I was 19 years old.  Gia comes from two places: the super model Gia Carangi and GiaGunnthe movie called “Gia” with Angelina Jolie.  Last name Gunn comes from Tim Gunn from Project Runway.

How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you were chosen?

I actually auditioned only once and made it on my first try.  Finding out the good news was one of the most rewarding feelings EVER!  Just to know that all your hard work has finally paid off is simply amazing.

Tell me about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience.

The experience was life-altering. Like anything else, there are positives and negatives.  However, the positive definitely overpowered the negative.  I have RuPaul’s Drag Race to thank for making me a stronger person on the inside as well as a better drag queen on the outside and allowing me to be known on a national level.

How are you going to leverage your time on Drag Race?

I am taking one day at a time and never looking back.

Who do you want to win?

I would love to see Ben De La Creme win for her versatility, Courtney for being so fishy and vocally talented, and Bianca del Rio just because she’s old boots and needs an award already to validate her horrible comedy!

Tell me about the man behind Gia.

What man?  I’m F.I.S.H. honey!

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.

I’m really not shady, just honest!  In actuality I am a very personable person and I hope that everyone out there gets to know the real me. I only bite if requested. 🙂

What’s ahead for Gia?

My future holds a lot of different opportunities.  At this moment I cannot predict what direction my life is going to take; however, I know even greater success awaits me.  RuPaul’s Drag Race has allowed me to start the rest of my life and live my dream!
