On Saturday morning was Poverello’s 24th annual Bowling to Fight Hunger at Sawgrass Lanes. For Once again there were many teams all raising thousands of dollars for this worthy cause. Saturday night we headed down to Miami and stopped in at Floppy Rooster and damn did I see a lot of Floppy’s LOL! We then went next door to Bailo to party with the Latin Crowd and see shows by the one and only Marytrini and her special guests. On Sunday, Arcade in South Beach started Soul Logic, The Sunday Dance Nation, which was kind of a T-dance and featured Carlos Rojas and Jared Coetzee. Another busy week in South Florida!

As promised, Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz has announced new U.S. dates on his upcoming international tour – a unique itinerary that will see the multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter performing in an array of intimate venues around the world. The dates celebrate Mraz’s new album, “YES!,” which recently was released and if I didn’t write about former Hotspots Editor and friend of mine Sheri Elfman would kill me. By the way, if you see Sheri wish her a happy 40th!
The “YES!” tour – which finds Mraz teaming up with his longtime friends and “YES!” collaborators, Raining Jane – gets underway with a series of intimate North American shows and surprise multi-show runs in select cities.
Following the now sold-out show on August 21 in his adopted hometown of San Diego, Mraz will perform an additional local show before making his way along the West Coast and to Texas. More U.S. dates will be announced soon.
In addition to the newly announced tour dates, USA Today premiered Mraz’s short film, “We Can Take The Long Way”: http://usat.ly/1w5Eglk. Directed by Jeff Nicholas and Jonathan Craven and produced by The Uprising Creative (Justin Timberlake, Rihanna), the film includes three songs from “YES!”: “Love Someone,” “Hello, You Beautiful Thing,” and “Long Drive.”
