Georgies Alibi present Toys for Tots

georgieslogoGeorgie’s Alibi (3100 3rd Ave. N., St. Petersburg) is gearing up for another holiday season, and for them this means giving back to the local community. For the past three years, Georgie’s has brightened the holiday season for many local children by donating presents at Christmastime, through the Toys for Tots program.

The staff and customers at Georgie’s are happy to participate in the annual Toys for Tots drive, and this year is no exception. The toy drive starts this week and goes on through December 15. On that night, there will be a special Toys for Tots benefit, starting at 8 p.m. Show director Kori Stevens and other local queens will be donating their time, tips, and of course toys, to Tampa Bay youth.

Toys-4-Tots_copy2“Georgie’s Alibi has been a part of the community for 14 years.  We realize that we are no island,” Kori Stevens said in a recent interview with Hotspots. “We think it’s very important to support and give back to the community that has supported us for so long.  We will continue to do so, wherever possible, for as long as we are here.”

“As a child, I was a recipient of the efforts of organizations like Toys for Tots,” Kori said to us. “I always told myself that – if I ever got the opportunity – I would do my part to repay the generosity, or at least pay it forward.”

Toys-4-Tots_copyToys for Tots is a nationwide toy drive sanctioned by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. The first toy drive was held during the Christmas season in 1947, and since then, Toys for Tots has given over 450 million toys to children in need. Last year’s holiday season saw seven million children ages 12 and under receive toys in time for Christmas.

To donate to Toys for Tots, please purchase a new, unwrapped toy from a local retailer and donate it either to Georgie’s Alibi directly, or to a toy drop location where you live. There are local chapters of Toys for Tots in 59 of Florida’s counties.
