I had the chance to talk to the chief pharmacist, Rick Patel, about Bio Care and all the services offered there.
Tell us about your staff.
In addition to myself, I have two technicians working for me at the pharmacy. First there’s Natasha, and then there is also Cristela. They are both certified and registered pharmacy technicians in the state of Florida. I also have a driver who goes out and delivers medications door to door.
What are some of the biggest questions your pharmacists get from new customers and how do they alleviate their concerns?
Most of the time they have questions about their service. With their older services, maybe their delivery cost has increased, and then others have questions about their co-pay. No matter where they go, though, through us or somewhere else, we assure them that their co-pay will remain the same.
We also accept all insurance. We are contracted with all of the insurance providers.
The staff at the pharmacy specialize in HIV medication and medication for a number of other ailments as well. What does “specialization” mean in this context exactly?
We are very knowledgeable about HIV medication. If someone is just starting HIV medication, or any medication for any other health issue, we can provide them with a consultation. We have a separate consultation area so if they choose to do so, they can come to the pharmacy and I can talk to them about their new medication, how many times they have to take it, and how they are going to receive them.
What’s the one thing in your business model that you are most proud of?
I have two. I’m proud of our friendly staff and I really pride ourselves on the fact that we’re very fast!
