¿Por qué estabas ¨freaking out¨?

Me encantó Vancouver Canadá.

Like most gay men, we love a drag queen, even if we don´t necessarily love the idea of all that makeup and cinching our waists with itty bitty corsets. This past season of Rupaul´s Drag Race didn´t disappoint and our special guest Adore Delano was there to see it all. Unfortunately for her, she ended up as a runner up and not the big winner, but that hasn´t slowed down this latina home girl from Azusa, California. She took time out of her busy schedule to chat with Genre Latino about her new record and upcoming tour, her feud with Laganja Estranja, and her relationship with season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio.

How has the year been?

It´s been so many different things, really a roller coaster of emotions, I loved it, then I was freaking out, and now I am loving it again. I have just been so busy, it´s crazy.

GLDec_PARTY_copy2Why were you freaking out?

After the 4th or 5th month of traveling every day, you start to lose a bunch of things, your mind being one of them. jaja I am so used to things that are familiar so it gets overwhelming when you are thrown into so many different places for such a short amount of time. It´s like, I don´t even remember where I live anymore.

Where is your favorite place that you have been so far?

I really loved Vancouver. I loved London too, but I hated the food. There is only one place in Europe that I enjoy the food and that´s Italy cause I´m a carb whore, but I love that in England, they don´t get offended when you don´t like the food, cause THEY don´t even like the food. I am from a small town so I never thought I would get to see any of these places.

I know that you have been so busy recently, but what have you got going on in the near future?

I´m working on a second album and getting ready to start touring with my band in Australia. Then, I´ll be traveling with the Girls from drag race. This has been a crazy year since filming for the show ended, but I´m working more coming up than I did the past year.  I´m really excited about the album because I´m writing a lot of material right now, working with amazing producers, and I have a goal to get signed. I was even asked to record some as Danny, but I´m like No, I have worked too hard and I want to do it as a Drag Queen.

How did the show really affect your life?

It’s been good and…not really bad, but different in ways that you don´t think about.  I don´t get to see my friends anymore. It´s made me realize that you really have to depend on yourself and keep a sane mentality in this business, which is tough. People think that it´s all just a big party, and it is a lot of partying because it´s working at a lot of nightclubs but I don´t do drugs, never touched them, and that is something that I´ve been exposed to. It has been a downfall for some people, so I got to watch out for me.

So you mentioned that you are from a small town, where exactly are you from?

About 30 mins from Hollywood in a small town called Azusa, CA.

When you say small town I am picturing the small rural town that I grew up in in Delaware with farms and cows, and stuff.

I say small town because it´s like unique cause everyone knows each other and no one leaves this place. I know the people at the grocery store since I was 6 years old. For the people here, this is it people never get out. We live in a canyon City that is really trapped in a bubble.

So I have to ask you about Laganja Estranja since your relationship with her was really an important arc on the show this past season. How are things with her now?

I just saw her last night, and I gave her a hug and a kiss, but we aren´t like home girls anymore, so it´s still weird. We aint ¨like that¨ no more,  but I do respect her as a ¨drag queen sister¨, but it´s not like it used to be and I don’t think it ever will be again.
