You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up!

We once purchased an old Italian-style house. The owner was very strange to say the least. She didn’t believe in air conditioning. She said she preferred the natural humid Florida summer weather. In the living room, there was a huge, very ugly dresser that she had covered in fabric and beads. There were three huge mirrors on the back side.

We told a white lie and said that we liked it too. At the closing table, she told us that the dresser and mirrors were ours, since we liked them so much. When we moved them to the curb, there was a surprise for us. She had wallpapered the walls around the dresser and mirror but not behind them! Behind the wallpaper, there was a six-inch hole in the Italian-style wall, plastered and papered over! LOL

You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up! (Part Two!)

Have you ever wondered why San Francisco, California was so gay? It all started with the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in 1941. America was instantly tossed into a war with Japan. The last American port for many ships was San Francisco. For sailors who had boarded ships at other ports, San Francisco would be their last stop. Many of the gay sailors were outed while serving on their ships. Then they were kicked off the ships and stranded in San Francisco, having been given dishonorable discharges. Not wanting to go home to their families after such disappointing news, they started their lives over again and made San Francisco their new home. Now you know…the rest of the story.
