Stand-up comedian and actor Mario Cantone is going to be bringing an all-new show to entertain South Florida audiences just in time for Pride Month. This new show, which will feature many of the impersonations we’ve come to know and love, is called “On the Way to Broadway” and will be presented at The Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale for one night only: Saturday, June 13 at 8 p.m.

Mario Cantone has been doing stand-up comedy for over 25 years and has been an actor on television and film for nearly as long. Originally from Stoneham, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, he made his nationwide acting debut in 1994 and portrayed his first role on Broadway the next year. He is perhaps best-known for his role on HBO’s Sex and the City, playing MarioCantonee_CopyCharlotte’s gay best friend and wedding planner, and also for his guest spots on ABC’s talk show The View.

Comedy-wise, Mario Cantone is particularly well-known for his campy impressions of celebrities, such as Judy Garland and her daughter Liza Minnelli, Bette Davis, and Julia Child, to name a few. (Julia Child was the very first impression he perfected, as a teenager.) In this show, he will be performing comedy as well as music (he has brought along a band for this special show).

Tickets are available for purchase right now for Mario Cantone’s one-night-only performance in Fort Lauderdale. Ticket prices range from $28 to $98 per person and can be purchased online by going to parkerplayhouse.com or by calling and/or visiting the box office.
