Dubbed “Decision Day,” the date of the ruling will be commemorated throughout Broward County as it joins others across the country in hosting celebrations.
“While we don’t know how the Court will rule, we know that Broward is ready for the national freedom to marry,” said Row Iliescu, South Florida Development Director for Equality Florida. “Here in Broward, we are proud of the diverse group of organizations collaborating as a community to mark this momentous occasion.”
The planned Broward Decision Day events include a rally at the Federal Courthouse, 299 E Broward Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, 33301, at 4 p.m., followed by a gathering at Rumors Bar and Grill, 2426 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors. at 6 p.m.
“Any day now the Supreme Court will issue a ruling on the freedom to marry for all Americans,” said Iliescu, “and I’m so glad to be working with other local organizations to bring as many people together as possible in celebration, no doubt, of what will likely be the single most important ruling in LGBT history to date.
