August 19 and 26

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale (2414 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) is welcoming man’s best friend for two dog-friendly events this August, which are part of Broward County’s year-long history and culture celebration, Broward 100. These events are called “the Dog Days of Broward100_copySummer” and are designed to invite The Galleria’s loyal shoppers to the mall with their special babies.

The first event will be held on Wednesday, August 19 and will be called “Fashion Hounds.” Do you think you have what it takes to strut down the runway at The Galleria, and most importantly, can your pooch serve couture realness? If so, enter immediately by signing up online at blacktie-southflorida.com and be present at the mall at 5 p.m. to show off the summer fashions that best suit you and your dog! Among the prizes to be awarded include Best Dog Walk, Best Dressed, Dynamic Duo and Best in Show. Registration is $25 and the fee can go to the local pet rescue charity of your choice.

Broward100_copy2Wednesday, August 26 is National Dog Day, and The Galleria is celebrating with the official unveiling of the Bow Wow 100 Photograph Gallery at 5 p.m. Throughout the month of August, The Galleria asks their shoppers to post photos of their dogs to Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #GalleriaFtLaudDogDays. The 100 best images, as chosen by The Galleria, will be used in the photo installation.

The Galleria welcomes dogs on these special days, but the management asks that they be friendly, leashed and accompanied by their owners at all times.Broward100_copy3
