On Monday, February 22nd the annual Miss Gay Black USofA pageant and was held at J's. It was a fab pageant and in the end local entertainer and my friend, Champagne Bordeaux, won her first national pageant and is the new Miss Gay Black USofA 2010. On Tuesday I was privileged enough to go see one of the true divas of our generation, Patty Lupone, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. To say her show was moving would be the understatement of the year. Thursday was the return of DJ Miik's Cuchifrito now being held at Johnny's. If the crowd was an indicator ...

Monday, February 15th was the annual Miss Florida Continental, Elite and Plus pageants at the Voodoo Lounge. There were 10 contestants vying for these prestigious titles. Some of the highlights of the evening were Viva Mirage’s and Sandra Lopez’s evening gowns, India Channel Braxton’s Jill Scott talent (lyp synch at its best) and India Demore’s Q&A. Congratulations to all the winners and to Samantha Perez for keeping the tradition alive. A special thanks to Jim Fiynt (owner of the Continental system and the Baton Show Lounge) ...

Last Tuesday was the monthly Mack Lunch was at the Riverside Hotel. Mark Semple, director of catering and conventions at the hotel, said a few words and gave every attendee a split of champagne in honor of the end of the 4th year of Mack Lunches. A special mention to event sponsor Scarr Insurance whose owner, Barry Scarr, and son Jeph Scarr spoke. Next month’s lunch is on March 2nd and will be taking place at Trina. For more information go to MackPlanet.com. Friday night my first stop was Living Room Nightclub's Liquid Fridays where Kaya Jones from the world famous Pussycat Dolls performed live on stage. As usual the party was hot and filled with sexy young guys! Afterwards I went over to the Manor where American Idol's season 6 first runner-up ...

I was in Tampa this weekend for the 2 year anniversary of Steam at Honey Pot that starred DJ Johnny Vicious and a fab performance by the newly crowned Miss Gay America, Coco Montrese. I arrived with Scott Spar ( Hotspots' Central Florida Director of Marketing and Sales) at about 11:30 pm and there was a long line down the block to get into the club. Of course Steve Moss and Steve Donahue's people ushered us directly in and the club was already packed. Mark of Mark & Carrie immediately bought me a drink and made sure my ...

July 4th weekend ended with a packed Saturday night at Sidelines (see pictures in this week's magazine) and a phenomenal T Cruise where the boat was sold out. Keep in mind that Peter Burke will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of the T Cruise August 2nd, but get your tickets now as this will surely sell out! After the cruise I went over to Scandals, who welcomed 99.9 KISS Country and their staff. They gave away lots of prizes, including 2 concert tickets to the ....

The monthly Fort Lauderdale Mack Mixer took place on Tuesday, February 9th at the Manor with a packed house. For those of you who have not been this is a great place to network and meet other gay and gay friendly business people in a relaxed business casual atmosphere. Directly following the mixer was the Manors Tuesday night promotion Madame's Cabaret starring Electra, Erika Norell, Champagne Bordeaux, Gina D'Angelo and Monica Moore, its dinner and drag with lots of fun. Tuesday night was the 3rd installment of the newly formed LGBT Think Tank and in that meeting they revealed their new name, the Rainbow Business Coalition of Greater Fort Lauderdale. It was great to see some of the most well-known gay and gay-friendly business owners stepping up to the plate to form what is sure to be a phenomenal new organization. Wednesday I stopped by the Manor for the Valerie Tyson Band, the new headliners on Wednesdays, and they bring something to the gay community that I have never seen before in a weekly promotion. Valerie and the band developed into a powerful musical force that brings together all styles of music including R&B, jazz, disco, classic rock, swing, hip hop, Latin calypso and reggae.

This past holiday weekend was chock filled with activities. Friday night featured the monthly Artwalk down Wilton Drive and Copy This featured pics taken by Hotspots' own Pompano Bill. After the Artwalk I stopped in at the Manor as my good friends at Pandora Events presented their monthly comedy spotlight staring Suzanne Westenhoffer, who was hilarious! Saturday night was the 9th anniversary of Atomic Boom where I ran into a lot of friends I hadn't seen in a long time. Kudos to Chris Burdekin (GM) and his team for some fabulous decorations and congrats to Tim and Craig on 9 great year! Afterwards I headed down to Score for the official sailaway party for the Atlantis Cruise produced by Hilton Wolman. As usual the club ....
