 On a picture perfect day the 2012 Gasparilla Invasion went off without any problems. GaYBOR District was packed with all kinds of party animals, like weekend Pirates, a fun filled circus, Naughty Butt Pirates, Circuit bozs, great entertainment all over and the women of the Olivia Cruise made the weekend special. GaYBOR was truly a melting pot of diversity!

 Things are not heating up, but boiling over and turning into a circus with excitement for The Gasparilla Invasion from January 27 -29. This is the Second Annual GANCHO Tampa Circuit Party weekend. DJ Abel, DJ Ralphi Rosario, and DJ Power Infiniti are just some of the DJs in town this weekend. All of GaYBOR/Ybor City will be adding to the festivities. There will be special Drag Shows and DJs at Hamburger Mary's, Bradley's on 7th, Steam Fridays and G.Bar. There are the HOTTEST dancers and porn stars flying in from across America and Europe to perform and party in all the clubs. At Steam Fridays, there will be a "one of a kind circus performance." G.Bar will host DJ/Producer Joe Gauthreaux! (See details below).

 With the new year comes a flood of new gay bars opening in Tampa. There are three opening in GaYBOR/Ybor City. The Liquid Lounge is moving in to the former Blue Shark location on 7th Avenue and 15th Street. The former location of Liquid Lounge is becoming a Leather/Mens Bar. The owner is currently looking for a investor partner who would also be manager/bartender.

 The lit garland strands were hung up with care by over 160 GaYBOR Coalition members and city workers volunteering their time decorating all along the Nationally famous Ybor streets. The big lighting ceremony of the Central Districts 34' Holiday Tree in Centro Ybor was setup, lit and witnessed by thousands. There was a Juried Art Festival in the Park bringing in new visitors to Centennial Park and 25 cent TECO Streetcar rides offered for families to ride clanking along the historical waterfront and Channelside Districts. A big unleashed holiday spectacular was around the corner though. "SNOW IN YBOR CITY" was experienced by the many thousands of visitors. It happened all along 7th Ave between 15th and 17th Streets, with the surprise appearance of Santa Claus on the Ybor City Fire truck.

 - The rest of this month looks like one big party in the GaYBOR District! It now looks like we will have time to rest up sometime in the middle of January! GaYBOR is full of surprises and excitement! Holiday parties are booked everywhere.  -The 2nd Annual Gancho Circuit Party is set for Gasparilla Weekend January 27-29th. -The Olivia Cruise this year leaves from Tampa with over 1,300 women aboard from January 29-February 5th.
-The 18th Annual Gasparilla Softball Tourney, sponsored by the Tampa Bay Suncoast Softball League is February 17-19th playing all around Tampa Bay baseball diamonds.

 It's a tradition that gets all the Ybor City shop owners getting competitive. It is the 4th Annual GaYBOR Holiday Store Front Decorating Contest. To the amazement of all out of the area visitors and regulars to Ybor City, the store owners decorated up a frenzy of holiday gaiety! The competition was open to all stores, retail shops, bars, clubs, hotels, and offices. There was an extra prize going out to residences in the historic district who decorated the exterior of their homes and condos. There are five winning categories all competing to win up to $1,000 baskets of prizes from other retailers in Ybor City. Hundreds took part in this year's fun annual colorful competition!  -It is true! The old timer and laughing bartender is returning to KiKiKi Bar. Bartender Mike Burdette's happy laughter is coming back to the old digs on Kennedy Blvd. after a 10 year hiatus. See him on Sundays through Tuesdays.
