A new night club is opening in Ybor City replacing the old Empire Club on 7th. It is called Dream but will it become a nightmare? The Empire Club had many shootings, 1 shooting death inside and closed last November. St Pete Pride Parade has come and gone. It is interesting to see the attendance counting from the news agencies. Fox network reported 40k there. Channel 10 CBS reported 80,000 as did Tampa Bay Times, Channel 28 ABC & Watermark magazine reported 100,000. There is such a disparity in attendees among the media. Is it to early to clean up Tampa for the RNC convention? Trees and shrubbery are being planted and new paving jobs are in the works on the Tampa downtown streets. Are the private building owners being responsible and cleaning up and painting their historic frontage structures? The Code Enforcement officers in Tampa told us they have been warned. The biggest convention in Tampa’s history, the GOP National Republican Convention is just 1 month away!

 St. Pete Pride 2012 is in full swing and there are tons of fun events planned. To see them all visit StPetePride.com . The out on the street promenade and super inviting Street Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, June 30th. The Parade starts at 9 am so plan on being there by 7-8am. You can get your breakfast at the Pancake Breakfast Benefit by Una Voce at MCC King of Peace or other breakfast goodies at Georgie's Alibi! From a person with a float in many parades... this is also the most overwhelming parade of all the parades. This is always an awesome Gold Star event for Tampa Bay and all of Florida. An anticipated record breaking attendees coming from all over the country will be here. It takes a full years planning with lots of time, energy, volunteers and management team to put such an extraordinary Blue Ribbon Festival in place.

 OH MY! St. Pete Pride's 10th Year "Carnival" Anniversary is in full swing with dozens of Pride parties planned all month. The big street festival will be on Saturday, June 30th and the Promenade Parade starts at 9 am sharp! That night there are HUGE Parties planned all over GaYBOR/Ybor City. We suggest to make your hotel & dinner reservations now. The Hampton Inn & Suites and Sheraton Downtown Riverwalk have great rates. The countdown to the GOP Republican National Convention in Tampa has begun. In now less than 90 days, what some are calling "Hurricane RNC" will be hitting Tampa. From great to bad and everywhere in between the stories are already starting. One thing for sure is this will be a very interesting August.

 So much in a short period of time, but it was a great win for the showcasing of Tampa's GLBTA historic community, the GaYBOR District in historic Ybor City. GaYBOR District Coalition is a business coalition and has over 240+ Gay and Gay friendly businesses throughout Florida but the majority are located in the Ybor City and Tampa Bay area. The long special weekend also was coinciding with Memorial Day weekend this year. The past GaYBOR Days have been during the July 4th week but this year was conflicting with St. Pete Pride events

 This year GaYBOR Days 2012 has moved to Memorial Day Weekend and, boy, are there a lot of fun events to showcase the GaYBOR District in historic Ybor City. We welcome visiting GLBT visitors, but everyone is welcome and to join in on the fun and activities. There will be fine dining, great entertainment, historic sites, #1 Rated Bars/ Clubs, comfy hotels, and fun shopping experiences. Special rates are available at Hampton Inn & Suites Ybor ( Special MC FILM Rate), Don Vicente Inn, Sheraton Riverwalk DT (Special MC FILM RATE) and Hilton Gardens Inn in Ybor City. There's great GaYBOR shopping at MC FILM & Agora.

 Gay Days at Disney was packed again this year. Many of the hottest beach party fashions were from MC Film. Thank you Guys for making us make you look so good! It was over the top wild in GaYBOR/Ybor City with the "Been there, Done that crowds!" On Saturday night the first "Sicon Rock Fest" where 26 bands performed in 4 locations throughout GaYBOR/Ybor City including; The Crowbar, The Orpheum, The Ritz Ybor & Czars. Conservative estimates have the crowds over 10,000.

 We had the honor of going to the open house of the newly remodeled Ritz Ybor. The crowd was very mixed, gay, straight, hip & not so hip. One group was standing out in tailored suits and silk ties. They were obviously slumming it. Tea Cup & Mathieu were there looking fabulous & gay. A nice short lady server was trying to make her way thru the very busy crowd with a big overly filled bowl of what looked like crab dip. She accidentally bumped into one of the guys in a suit. She looked at Tea Cup & Mathieu with a look like she was going to start crying. Mathieu said to her, "Don't worry" Then grabbed some napkins and tapped the men on the shoulder & said "Excuse me."

 The very successful 10 year old St Pete Pride organization will be looking for a new head honcho. Chris Rudisill is leaving St. Pete Pride after 6 years and will be heading over the Metro Wellness and Community Centers in the three county area to become GLBT Events Project Director. The new change which will not take effect until July 15th after the Pride events.

A short 30 minutes east of Tampa is Lakeland. On a Monday afternoon we didn't expect much but WOW were we wrong! Our first stop was a late lunch early dinner at The Texas Longhorn just off the Florida Ave exit on I-4. There were 6 tables of blue hairs and 3 tables of gays. Of course we knew the gay guys, LOL. Next we were eager to check out Karma Bar & Lounge, located inside the Regal Grand Hotel on Memorial Blvd.
