Our new Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said we will have strength through diversity. Judging by the oath of office he is holding true to this! There were straight and gay choirs performing. The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Choir (with a few gay guys we noticed) and the Gay Men's Chorale chorus group, the Una Voce Rays sang with distinction. Speakers were: USF President Judy Genshaft, Father David Toups - Christ the King Catholic Church, Tampa Police & Tampa Fire Fighters Bagpipe Honor Guard Band ...

After a year of working on negotiating for the old Badcock Furniture store on 7th Ave, a new sparkling gem has now appeared. The New Metro Wellness and Community Centers cut a huge Good Luck Ribbon on its opening ceremony with outgoing Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio. The old Historic San Souci Building is now known as the areas new GLBT Center for Tampa. The restored two-story white brick building has a variety of community services for HIV testing/treatment, mental health, substance abuse, minority counseling and many new forthcoming programs. Already on the first floor is Bio Script Pharmacy and coming soon a new USF medical clinic.

Here at MC Film we have a very special relationship with Former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco. In debates people would criticize him over his city projects and he would say "It's strange, these projects are some of the most loved and most hated in Tampa. Yet all these projects are important building blocks for the good of all of Tampa." Dick would go on to say "...do you really think we could have the Republican National Convention coming here if all we had to offer were small motels and the Mons Venus for entertainment? No!

A huge roaring crowd of volunteers, supporters and voters in the courtyard of Channelside welcomed Tampa's newly elected Mayor Bob Buckhorn and the first family on stage! In Mayor Elect Buckhorn's acceptance speech he talked about building a new and better Tampa with the help of our very diverse community. Bob went on to thank everybody, including the gay community for all their help and support. We were honored to have Bob give a special shout out to Mark & Carrie! The Tampa GLBT Community is very lucky to have Bob Buckhorn in office. Mayoral contender Rose Ferlita is also a friend to the GLBT community.
