dishing1Get ready for a very busy month! Last week was GayDay’s at Disney. We would like to congratulate Miss Alisa Summers, the new Miss Gay Days 2010! This weekend, June 18-20 is the first North Pinellas Pride (NorthPinellasPride.com) in Dunedin. The following week is St. Pete Pride. There are many events planned. The highlight will be the 100,000 in attendance for the Promenade & Street Festival on Central Ave., Saturday, June 26th. Hotspots will be in the parade and festival, so stop by and say hello to all of us. For more information go to STPetePride.com. From June 30th to July 5th will be the 3rd Annual GaYBOR Days in Historic Ybor City. The 6 day festival will include many events: 15th Street FREE Health Fair, Movie night, Gaybor’s Famous Bar Crawl, 4th of July Pool Beach Party, a concert by Andy Belle (Erasure) and many celebrities. For more information go to GaYBOR.com. From July 1st to the 4th is Tampa Black Pride (TampaBlackPride.com). So get ready, Tampa Bay, for a month full of PRIDE!

A group of 16 gay reverends from Tampa Bay are heading their motorhomes north to the gay owned and operated Timberfell Lodge & Campground in Greeneville, TN (Timberfell.com) for a fun bear weekend. It may be a little cooler in them their mountains, boys! Remember “Deliverance!” Speaking of campgrounds, we hear a new black ”Limo Golfcart” has been delivered to Sawmill Campground’s residence sector. In celebration of a birthday (happy birthday, Chuck!), we hear that the new extended cart has AC, a DVD player, side curtains, full bar and a fun ride for 10! Al Fergussen, what you won’t do for your beau! Former Brandon Pride Director Mark Fergusen had a big 40th birthday last weekend.

There’s a special discount for all of PRIDE month at the historic Don Vicente Inn in Ybor City. This boutique hotel has only 16 elegant rooms and a basement full of ghosts!

James Taylor and Carole King wowed the over 17,000 music enthusiasts for their memorable “Troubadour Reunion Tour” at St. Pete Times Forum 2 Sundays ago. We were surrounded by friends, new and old, all wanting to hear the 40+ year fab singing star duo. Jeff Italiano, sis Terell and her partner cheered loud and strong. We were guests of theirs with friends flying in from South Carolina and Texas to come and experience the memories of growing up with acoustic guitar and free spirited independence heralded singing direction. It was strange because it brought me back to seeing them back in time when I remember them through the forty years of song writing and singing but experiencing and witnessing them at present.

Deja vu I guess! It was a moment of timelessness. Original 40 year band members were there performing also. Forty years after their 1969 beginnings at a club called Troubadour in Los Angeles to become iconic ballad and musical singers, then and still now. That is a true reflection of how one person can make a difference in your life. Carole (she looked great!) sang and played piano then taking turns letting James Taylor play guitar, recalling the years of hit song after song and the crowd often sang along. “I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet,” “Carolina In My Mind,” “I Feel Fire and Rain,” to the duo leading the Forum’s concerteers to singing “You’ve got a Friend.” In his opening comments, James Taylor told us all that it was going to be a 7 hour concert. Well, we wouldn’t have been disappointed, but it was almost 3 hours long with 2 crowd standing encore performances.
