Could it be that an important part of Ybor history is peaking out of the ground at us? The tunnels of Ybor are a big part of the past. It is said to have been build with a curved arch brick roof and was complete with electricity and a rail system. These tunnels were used during prohibition to transport liquor and other things. One of these tunnels ran from the Blue Ribbon Store to Las Novedades which later became El Goya, then Tracks, then Pleasure Dome and now is Czar. In the 1970s, El Goya caught on fire and the tunnel entrance was blocked. In 2000, the Blue Ribbon burned to the ground and the space is now a parking lot. After the recent heavy rains, a space about four feet wide, with bricks stacked on bricks and runs under the sidewalk, has opened. Is this a tunnel of Ybor City?! New at G. Bar It's easy to see what so many people call G. Bar the best gay bar in Central Florida! Every week G.Bar is evolving into a new and different club full of surprises. A couple weeks ago there was a new incredible WOW Chandelier. Last week there was a new VIP area complete with up light dance pillars! Do these guys ever rest? One thing is for sure, you will always great time at G.Bar!

Located in the former Charlie's, the restaurant has received many upgrades from new flooring to new restaurant equipment. Franko promises to soon have a new French menu also. . .Hamburger Mary's is now featuring The Newlywed Game, Taco Tuesday along with a complete weekly line up. . .Centro Canteen has the largest selections of frozen drinks on a beautiful balcony with LIVE music. . . Across the street at JJ's Cafe and Bar the Jazz is great, as is the view!. . . Dancing on the rooftop at RISE is a Sunday must do. The outside showers under the stars is incredible. . . Everybody get ready for a WILD SUMMER in GaYBOR!! |
