Starting off with the number Ten Slot. . .
Kyle Puccia hits the charts with a Message. While Kyle Puccia is no stranger to seeing his name on the charts, we never expected this. "Message" says we should "never give up, and we should live it up like we are dying". Well the listeners have spoken and they are dying for more from Mr. Kyle Puccia. Strong vocals and sweet arrangement of the synths with a very nice bass line had this writer bouncing in the seat and tapping the keyboard to the rhythm. Very nice job, Mr. Kyle Puccia, and welcome back to the charts. Kylepuccia.com
Zayra hits us with yet another smash hit with "Baby Likes To Bang." DJ Escape sets the tone with smashing bass beats and Liquid D's don't stop with the electro keys. The breaks just make you beg to get Banged with more of the bass and more of the. . yeah, that. . .The Video is misleading as it sends us on a roller-coaster ride of confusion and makes love to us by beating and banging the — this is an all age readership, folks — but with a hot dance track like this, she can bang anytime. Alyssa Rubino has something to say — are you not shocked? — and this time it is a great song. "Dance The Night Away" is not the usual teenage pop song that we have come to hear from Alyssa. This time she speaks about strength, courage, and the way to let all the stress go. Mike Rizzo takes this great song to a whole new level in his remix, but both the radio edit original and his dance club version will lift you up, make you tap your finger and might even make you want to. ..Dance The Night Away. Alexis Jordon is growing up, and fast! She is shedding the drab over cliché' "Good Girl" image and is set to make the ladies' eyes pop as her new single "Good Girl" hits the charts. I am still not sold on this one yet. The radio edit leaves a little to be desired as the breaks are mismatched and vocals are a little less that spectacular, however The Freemason's Mix corrects a lot of the flaws and for the list of remixes that this writer has listened to, theirs is the best pick. Britney Spears is struggling to break into the Top 5, yet again. All the charts and listeners love her, but maybe they are holding something against her! "Hold It Against Me" did not hit the top 5 on either the US Dance, Billboard Dance, Club or the EU Dance charts, Why? The rhythm, the bass, the breaks, the lyrics. — as JLo said on American Idol — "Check! All there!" Even the video is well done. So why is it that "Hold It Against Me" has not been able to smash into the number one slot? Some listeners say they are tired of the "Same ol' Same ol'" from the glamour girl. Others say she doesn't have the same pizzazz that she used to have, but she has faced many critics and still releases Top Ten after Top Ten and "Femme Fatale" which recently aired on MTV, garnered the channel one of its largest viewerships in quite some time. I do not know why she has not graced the Top 5, but I am so sure she will, after release of the video. If she does not, I will not eat another twink(ie) again. Britneyspears.com
Taio Cruz and Kylie Minogue, take it one notch Higher to number five. The music has me going higher as well! Taio, the beats and rhythm are right on point. The lyrics are okay, nothing great, but they are put down to perfection. This writer would suggest the Jody Den Broeder Club Mix for those who want the Higher tempo and more club feel, but the radio edit release still holds strong dance feel and moves well in the clubs. This was a good choice for Taio after his "Dynamite" release, sticking to the strong bass line and drums that made that single so successful. Taiocruzmusic.co.uk/index.php
Lady Gaga was Born To Sing This Way. I know, everyone says "It's a Madonna Rip Off" or "she is just stealing Madonna stuff". Perhaps though, just maybe, like other artists around the world, she heard something in her youth that inspired her to be the great artist that she has become. Many artists do that such as Pop to Country conversions or vise versa, like "Bended Knee" or "Cross My Heart" performed by Boyz To Men, or George Straight, or how about "Leave Me Now", performed by Carol King, Joplin, Air Supply, and GLEE, etc. Many songs inspire other musicians. That's what a singer wants to achieve — they want their songs not only inspire the listeners, but other musicians as well. Madonna said so in a 1993 interview on MTV, "I hope my music inspires others to want to do music". So what if "Born This Way" sounds like a Madonna song? Heck, I can name five songs that Madonna did that sound like others like Boy George, Elton John, The Beatles and so on. The song "Born This Way" says something to us, something that not only the GLBT community needs to hear, but everyone. Why not listen to what the song has to say? Ladygagamusic.com
Katy Perry commits an abduction of the number three slot. E.T. is the latest release from the scarlet fever girl. The synth lines take us on a new voyage from her usual take on the breaks, but the lyrics tell us all about finding that unique person and the way they make us feel. I was hypnotized, infected, and filled with the futuristic sound of the radio edit. But then I heard the Dave Aude Club Mix and I was ready to be abducted myself. A well deserved chart placement at number three, but I am sure Katy is not going to stop there. Katyperry.com
Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull keep you on the floor with the number two slot. "On The Floor" is not the Oh My Goodness of singles released from JLo, however the world premiere and intro on American Idol sure didn't hurt it. The Radio edit slips in some real nice spins on the electro keys, the autotune and electrovoice aren't bad, but it disappointed me in the bridge and in the songs two breaks. I felt a little left out as no vocals were there. Enter the remixers, thank goodness there are those of us who do not like the radio edits and decide to step it up a notch. Ccw Crew did just that as they laid out their bootleg remix only three days after the national release, and not a moment too soon. While I am a huge fan of Pitbull, this time his timing was slightly off, but Ccw did a great job of fixing some vocal stems and retaining the very well done Latin drum influence. Rihanna enslaves you with the number one slot. S & M whips you into a frenzy and binds you with fetish-filled lyrics, dark vocals and bass that can not be hidden by the lavish high tempo that delivers rich symbols and tom toms with wicked keys and a bridge that make your whole body quiver with anticipation. The remixes do not fail you either. Dark Density Remix as well as the Sidney Samson Remix are my favorites and I am sure will be yours to. Rihannanow.com
