 AHOY MATEYS – welcome to Gasparilla Weekend in Tampa. Gasparilla weekend is known as Florida's version of Mardi Gras and is one of the largest events of its kind in the country. This week there are lots of themed events going on for you to enjoy along with some great special events in Orlando as well.  Well everyone by now you should be settled into 2012 just fine. Look at the year ahead of you; you're going to find some hard decisions that you are going to have to make. While making these decisions, don't ever lose sight of who you are and how these decisions that will be made will affect YOU because at the end of the day, it's YOU who has to live with yourself.  I am just arriving home from the 4th annual Hotspots Holiday Party that was held in South Florida. It was so nice to see how much support we had not only from the gay community and our advertisers, but from various city officials including the Mayor of Wilton Manors. What I think is equally as nice, if not nicer, is to see the exact same thing happening right here in Central Florida. We've been here in Central Florida for two years now and I can't do anything but thank each and every one of you for the love and support that you show us. I look forward to seeing all of our Central Florida community leaders and business owners at our first ever Central Florida Hotspots Holiday Cocktail Reception that will be in benefit of the Metro Wellness Center.

 Today is December 1st and is officially known as World AIDS Day. There are 2 very important events going on today both in Orlando and Tampa that if you can, you really should attend. This is something that as a community we must put a STOP to and the only way of doing it is to show our unconditional support as a community by standing united together. Hope and Help is hosting a fundraising breakfast in Orlando and Metro Wellness is hosting the Tampa Red Ribbon Run.  Well, this month marks my 2 year anniversary with Hotspots Magazine! It's been 2 years filled with adventure, fun and pride. During this holiday season, I'm sending love to my entire Hotspots Family and to Mark, Carrie and Stephen who pointed me into the right direction. I also want to send love out to my Mom, Dad and Brother. They are second to none and I love them with all of my heart. Raina, my bestie, I know I'm a challenge but you're always there and so is my love for you. Now to all of my friends and readers, my love and respect for you all is undying as you are the ones who fuel my fire each and every day. . .for that I thank you!  I saw a post on Facebook where a friend of mine was asking that everyone refrain from saying "Happy Holidays" and instead to start saying "Merry Christmas." Now, being Jewish myself I really didn't take offense to this but at the same time it did make me think during this day and age where our world is in such a state of turmoil, why not be considerate of everyone by simply saying "Happy Holidays"? Either way, what I'm getting at is no matter what religion or religious belief you choose to follow, be kind to one another and just have well wishes for everyone as we near the holiday season.
