This week is full of so many new and exciting events here in Tampa and in Orlando. It's very obvious that summer is upon us. I know it's hot out and none of us like to sweat, but quit complaining and get out of the house. The next time you think about just sitting there on that couch, in the words of the great Disco Dot, "Every night I think about staying home... then I come to my senses and give myself a good kick in the TUSH!" First and foremost I want to congratulate Tampa's Alexis Mateo! As you all know, Alexis was in this season of RuPaul's Drag Race and made it into the final 3. Unfortunately, she did not win, but trust me, she made us PROUD! Alexis, you'll always be a winner in our hearts and you were amazing all season long. Keep going girl, because you are number one right here at home! Well, the countdown for Gay Days is upon us boys and girls so start those starvation diets and remember, "as soon as you feel like you're going to pass out, eat a cube of cheese" LOL! Beach season is now upon us and Sunset Beach, or the gay beach in Tampa, is the place to be on Sunday afternoons. I decided that it was about time to check out "the scenery" at the beach so I gathered my troops, including Mr. Moss and Miss Raina, and off we went. Everyone was there including Choy, Mike, Alex and some very cute guy in a pink pair of Diesel underwear. This guy in the pink undies got lots of attention and those of you who were there and are reading this know EXACTLY what I'm talking about, lol. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Orlando I go! It's always great when I get to spend some time in Orlando visiting with our advertisers here, both new and old, and spreading the Hotspots fairy dust all over town. While I'm here in Orlando I always stay at The Doubletree Hotel at the entrance to Universal. My friend Eddie Myers and his staff always make sure that I have all the comforts of home. If you're coming into the Orlando area, I highly suggest you check them out! It's always nice to travel, but Tampa is home, so. . .see you out and about everyone! Memorial Day weekend is upon us which means that the official countdown to GayDays in Orlando is officially a week away! There is so much excitement in the air as this weekend always brings some of the most fun ever in Central Florida. Let's show everyone who might be here from out of town what a great place Central Florida is to be and the we know how to party better than anyone. PRIDE...it's something we should share with each other every day! Speaking of being proud, I send out my deepest congratulations to Jorge Alvarado for pulling off the second annual Pride On 7th, Tampa's very own Pride Celebration. I really hope all that attended this great event not only had fun but took home a sense of pride, whatever that might mean to you. Just remember during this pride season, you're gay every day and not just during pride so never hide who you are from anyone! This week was full of all kinds of unexpected surprises. I attended this fantastic pageant at The Honey Pot, where, to my surprise, I saw Alexis Mateo and Shangela from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3. The crowd around them was a little much for me to bear so I just sashayed away to the victory party for the pageant, which was held at RISE Sundays, and who did I come across again. . .yep, Alexis and Shangela. Hey everyone! Wow, what a week this is going to be! I've given you some great ideas below to help you in planning out your social calendar, and I think I did a pretty damn good job in doing so (Scott now pats himself on the back, lol). From GaGa to Bonnets and everything in between, this is going to be one fun week. Now that the weather is getting nicer and nicer, get out of the house and enjoy yourself because "life is a banquet and some poor suckers are starving to death". Hey everyone out there in Hotspots-land thanks for stopping by! This past week I made my way down to the Hotspots Magazine offices in Fort Lauderdale for a few meetings. I love being down there because it gives me a chance to visit with my Hotspots family, but it also gives me a chance to stay at The Grand Resort. Every time I arrive, I am greeted by a beautiful pool (with beautiful boys lying by the beautiful pool, lol), beautiful landscaping and an inviting smile by their wonderful staff.
