Last Week in Review
I'd like to start off this week by congratulating Miss Alis Summers and Miss Jocelyn Summers. Alisa recently placed in the top 12 of the Miss Gay USofA newcomer Pageant. This was her very first national pageant and we couldn't be more proud of her. Jocely recently wont the Miss Gay Florida USofA at Large Pageant and she will go on to compete at the national level right here in GaYBOR at The Honey Pot in October. Both of you kept the crowns here in Tampa and if this is any sign of what's to come, watch out world because Tampa is back on the map for pageants! This is just another great example of a community that comes together as one and I for one am very proud to be a part of this community and I know you are, too! VIVA LA GAYBOR! It’s week number 5, the midway point, of GaYBOR's Talent Search at JJ’s and the talent has been amazing! This is your chance to show Tampa what you've got and if you've got what it takes, you'll take home $50 in cash! If its drag, dance, singing or stilt walking...bring it over to JJ's Cafe and Bar tonight and who knows, you just might take home the money. This is a 10 week contest with a grand prize to be won at the end of the contest. The winners are chosen by audience applause, so bring out all of your friends and win some money TONIGHT!

Jorge Alvarado and The Umbrella Management Group present the very long awaited return of Tampa Pride, now known as Pride On 7th. The expo begins at 9 am and continues through 5 pm. Directly following that the dance party will begin with superstar DJ Power Infinity from 6 pm to 10 pm. Ybor city takes over from there where many of the clubs in GaYBOR will be hosting the after parties, including G. Bar and The Honey Pot. Saturday, August 28, 2010, 8pm "Unconditional" is a documentary movie that follows the lives of two men (Brian Patterson and Michael Foster) over a two-day period as they prepare to celebrate their love for one another by having a commitment ceremony in the back yard of their Sanford, Florida home. Gabriel Haze's film “Unconditional” will have its world premiere screening for the general public in the Footlight Theatre at the Parliament House Resort on Saturday, August 28th at 8 pm. Complimentary appetizers served in the Footlight Lounge beginning at 6:30 pm will precede the screening. After the film, a post-show reception in the pool bar will feature complimentary desserts and an opportunity to meet the filmmaker who will be flying down from Boston for the event. 1 year in the gay community? Eh..OK. 5 years in the gay community? OK, not too bad. 10 years in the gay community? Are you kidding me? Come celebrate Georgie's Alibi's 10 year anniversary at 10 pm with Morgan McMichaels and Sonique from "Ru Paul's Drag Race" performing live and 1000 anniversary CD giveaways! As always, the male dancers will be hot and the place will be packed with lots of cuties! There's never a cover at Georgie's and now they're open until 3am 7 days a week. The Hotspots crew will be there this weekend to help celebrate, so if you see us, say "CHEESE!" and you might just find your picture in the magazine. Happy anniversary, Georgie's!

Tonight at the YBor Resort and Spa it’s the Back Door BBQ! This takes place every Sunday from 5pm to 9 pm with special guest grillers each week from the GaYBOR District. At Hamburger Mary’s Tampa tonight it’s Charity Drag Bingo. Every week, the bingo game is hosted by a different drag queen and every week the game will be in benefit of a different charity. This week, the bingo game will be in benefit of The Straz Center and The Producers, a support group of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
