Matty's celebrated their 3rd anniversary all weekend long to packed crowds with many giveaways each night. On Monday night, it was the finale to the Matty's Calendar Contest hosted by Nicolette with Jayson Gerena winning the coveted cover model position (pictured here with calendar photographer Michael Murphy). Also Monday night it was standing room only with lines all along Wilton Drive to see Leslie Jordan at Bill's. Leslie was on stage for over an hour bringing the audience to continuous laughter. After the show he signed autographs and talked with his fans. Edison Farrow's Buck 15 reopened last Thursday to crowds lined out the door. Buck 15's new hip space features a main room and 2 additional rooms to open within a few weeks. Daisy D was spinning funky beats, while the crowd ...

Last Monday Bill's had the check presentation of over $10,000 to Tuesdays Angel's for their annual Boxers and Briefs Underwear auction. To see the picture, look at Pompano Bill's Outlook page. Last Thursday was the grand opening of Johnny's in Miami Latin Night and it was a huge success with performances by Marytrini and Teresita with DJ Lannier Alvarez on the turntables. Friday was the much anticipated 2nd annual Broward Bares it, a benefit for Broward House at Paradise Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The show started promptly at 8 pm and featured many fabulous acts all to raise much needed money for Broward oldest HIV/AIDS organization. Last Monday was the much anticipated Roast of Pompano Bill at the Boardwalk. If you were there you know how obvious it is that this community loves Pompano as the Boardwalk was packed with the who's who in the Fort Lauderdale gay scene. Pompano took the roasting as a champ as you could tell he felt the love from everyone. A special two thumbs up to the fabulous Nikki Adams who had me and the entire crowd in stitches. This was just one of those nights that you don't forget as it will be kept in the memory vault. From myself and the entire Hotspots staff we would like to tell Pompano Bill how much we love him! Wednesday evening was...

On July 18th Bill's and Don Clark produced the annual Bartenders, Boxers and Brief Auction, which was a benefit for Tuesday's Angels. For those of you who haven't been, the premise is well known bartenders from around town auction off their underwear to the highest bidder and then the said winner gets to come on stage and take them off (its behind a towel...sorry). The event always draws in a big crowd and this year raised over $10,000 for this much loved charity. Congrats to Bill's owners Jackson and Mark, to Don Clark, his life partner Pooch for once again being the back stage coordinator, all the MC's, all the bartenders and bidders and everyone who came out to support this great event! Saturday featured 2 fun pool parties; in Fort Lauderdale the Depot featured ...

This past weekend I crashed Friday night as my body was saying "ENOUGH." On Saturday I went to The State of Florida Continental Pool Party and benefit at Depot. This was a benefit to raise money to send Corey's (owner of the pageant) winners to Chicago to the Nationals in September. It was a very fun afternoon, especially the Swimsuit auction part.....sexy models!! Saturday night I was out and about in Wilton Manors and ran into Shangela, who was a contestant on RuPaul's Drag Race and was a pleasure to interview a few months back and equally as nice in person. She informed me she was performing at Matty's on Sunday night and I promised her I would stop by. I did as did many other people as Matty's was packed with Shangela fans who were all saying "Halleloo." This was a fun show by ...

Sean David did a beautiful job renovating his new club which is directly across the street from Vagabond in downtown Miami. Virtually all the club and movers and shakers of the Miami scene were in attendance as well as a tremendous amount of Fort Lauderdale business owners. Congratulations to Sean for making his dream a reality! Friday Night had 2 big events happening in Miami; the opening of Marytrini's Wet Bar Friday's and Club Sugar featured Raven of RuPaul's Drag race Season 2. Both events drew in big crowds. Saturday afternoon Richard Gray presented the Grand Opening party of The Royal Palms in a lavish way that only Richard can. It was just a fabulous event that was very well attended. Sunday night The Manor presented Jai Rodriguez ...

Last Thursday was the monthly GLBX mixer at Bank United. The night featured fabulous hors d'oeuvres as well as a great opportunity to network. Afterward, we went to Matty's for their weekly calendar contest which had 4 cuties entering. In the end, Kyle became Mr. September. Check out the calendar contest every Thursday at 10:30pm. Saturday night Corey Boyd expanded his annual Kind of A Drag event to a twice a year event and produced a Christmas in July edition at the Walt Lawrence and Stephen Lewis Center for Worship and the Arts. Last Wednesday was the annual Mr. Noche Latina pageant held at The Manor and with 6 qualified contestants the pageant was cut throat. In the end Tariq Love Dupree was the 2nd alternate, CJ Richards the 1st alternate and the new Mr. Noche Latina is Eduardo Nunez. Congrats to all involved for producing a fabulous contest! On Thursday was the grand opening of the new Poverello Center in Fort Lauderdale. Once again Father Bill has taken the organization he started many years ago to the next level. Later that night, Johnny's Fort Lauderdale threw a party for their manager AJ Cross, which was also a benefit for Covenant House. The theme was Masquerade and the event was a lot of fun and raised money for a very good cause. Friday night Miami Beach Bruthaz presented ...

On Monday, June 27th Ken, Lloyd and the entire management and staff of Scandals and The Stable produced a benefit at the Stable for one of their own, Rambo. It was extremely obvious how much Rambo is loved in this community because the Stable was jam packed for hours. It literally brought tears to my eyes to see how the community came together. In the end $5,390 was raised. I hope Rambo is able to get well real soon and I for one am looking forward to seeing him behind the bar once again! On Wednesday was the monthly Mack Mixer in Palm Beach, this month being held at Luigi's Italian restaurant on one of my favorite streets in Palm Beach, Clematis. Wednesday night was the 18th anniversary of Twist and ...

lgbt-events-south-florida-0A week ago Monday was the annual Miss Alibi Turnabout Pageant which was a benefit for The Wellness Center of South Florida. As usual the boys of Alibi came decked out in your finest drag attire for this always fun event. Congratulations to organizers Scot Newel and Eric Brano and of course owners Jackson and Mark for once again having a successful Alibi Turnabout and of course for giving back to the community! Since this was Stonewall Weekend I stayed in Fort Lauderdale all weekend, but my spy's tell me Miami was happening as well. Friday night the men of film were all over Fort Lauderdale as Tommy Defendi hosted the sexy man contest with Miss Kitty at Bill's and Adam Killian and Angelo Marconi were performing live at the Boardwalk
