Last Week in Review
A week ago Wednesday was the monthly general meeting of the Rainbow Business Coalition (RBC) which had a very nice attendance including quite a few new members. Everyone seemed to be very excited about the upcoming International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association's (IGLTA) International Conference being held in Fort Lauderdale in mid-may. The amount of business and exposure that Fort Lauderdale will have is going to be astronomical. Friday night was the first of 2 packed shows at the manor starring Miss Richfield 1981. It is clear that this entertainer clearly has a large fan base. Later that night Living Room featured the talents of Raja from RuPaul's Drag Race season 3. She wowed the crowds with her unique style.
Sunday morning was the annual Florida AIDS Walk produced by AHF Pharmacy and Out of the Closet Thrift Store. Thousands attended this magnificent event that raised much needed money for AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Broward House, SunServe, Women in Network and The Pride Center at Equality Park.
Sunday Afternoon Mona's produced a very special event to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Fund of South Florida. The event featured a live jazz concert, a hot diggity dog cook out and lots of raffles. A big thank you goes out to Mona's owner Jerry and his entire staff for throwing another successful event.
Sunday night was the annual Equality Florida Miami Gala held at The Webster on Collins Avenue. As usual Nadine Smith and Stratton Politzer spoke eloquently and assured us our fight for Equality is moving forward. The night honored 3 deserving people with the Voice for Equality Awards: Elizabeth F. Schwartz, George Sheldon and Ellen Freidin. Congratulations to all involved for another successful gala.

The highly stylized and hard edged brand, Affliction, is proud to collaborate with Buckle and Romane Fragrances in introducing its first men's scent... Affliction Cologne. Affliciton is designed for the guy who demands attention. The cologne is inspired by the brands highly styled rock n roll lifestyle. The subtle power of this cologne conveys the attention to detail contained in each Affliction piece and is the finishing touch to the Affliction Man. The new Affliction cologne is modern and bold with a refreshing burst of lemon, pear and persimmon that are spiked with the unique combination of jasmine and juniper.
The scent then evolves into a deep, complex structure that combines sweet almond and tonka with sensual patchouli and rich mahogany capturing the masculinity of this fragrance. Musks linger on the skin allowing the fragrance to evolve and last throughout the day. Yann Vasnier, the Givaudan perfumer says "Persimmon, the fruit of the gods, was the inspiration. The scent is powerful, for an adventurer not afraid of the smokey, leathery cade wood notes that give the signature and essence to the Affliction Man." The 4oz whiskey stained bottle is distressed leather with African rust finish studs that frame the bottle. The bottle is encased in an Affliction black metal collector's tin.
Affliction Cologne retail's for only $59.95 and is available exclusively at Buckle.com, Buckle Stores, and Affliction Stores nationwide.
