Last Week in Review
Monday, Jan 16th was the annual Miss Noche Latina Pageant held at The Manor and once again the show was fabulous! In the end the winner was Alexis Mateo of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 3. I am sure, as a Latina from Puerto Rico she will carry the crown beautifully and promote the pageant all year long in the Tampa Area, where she resides, and throughout the state. On Tuesday Broward House presented their annual Spirit of Hope awards luncheon at Dapur and Hotspots Media Group was proud to be one of the honorees. It was a very nice luncheon and owner of Dapur Eddie was, as usual, extremely hospitable. On Wednesday, Wilton Manors Main Street presented "A Day in the Life of Wilton Manors" featuring the top 100 businesses at a luncheon at The Manor Complex. The who's who of business owners in Wilton Manors was there and it was a nice getaway from the daily grind.
Friday night was the monthly Art Walk down Wilton Drive featuring lots of art work from up and coming and established artists. It was a beautiful night to walk up and down the drive and see lots of art.
Saturday Discotekka presented the Black and White Ball in honor of TP Lords and Danny Vilar's birthday and the crowds came out to celebrate and also to hear the music of DJ Escape who kept the dance floor busy all night long. On Sunday the Coral Reef Guesthouse presented The Men of Ruff Riders Pool Party with hot boys wearing Ruff Riders shirts (and taking them off). The place had a great crowd, so much so that it took me 15 minutes to find a spot to park, but it was definitely worth the effort to see all those cute men in bathing suits! LGBT Events for South FloridaFriday, January 27 Starting tonight and going all weekend long, Boom will be celebrating their 11th anniversary with a theme party entitled Studio 54 with Studio 54 original DJ Frank Corr, original bartender Sal Defalco and a Grace Jones look-a-like. Bubble Gum Fridays at The Manor celebrates their 1 year anniversary with DJ JPS in the main room, DJ Daisy D in the Hip Hop room and performances by Estephania St. Lords, Sasha Lords, Erika Norell and TP Lords and your VIP Hostess Alandra Matthews.
Saturday, January 28 The 2012 Home Show - Arts & Crafts and Health and Fitness Expo takes place today and tomorrow at the War Memorial Auditorium (800 NE 8th Street). The Ramrod invites everyone to meet the men of the 2012 leather community calendars. The calendars will also be available for purchase. Bill's Filling Station presents Porsche performing live at 10 pm on the main stage.
Scandals Saloon presents their monthly Gospel Jubilee with Lady Fancy and the Scandals Jubilette's choir at 6 pm sharp. Sidelines Sports Bar invites the entire community to come out and celebrate Jennifer birthday starting at 9 pm tonight. The Depot Cabana Bar and Grill presents Sunday T Dance poolside from 2 to 6 pm starring DJ Jeffrey Jacobs with no cover and free parking.
The Boardwalk invites the entire community to come out to the Celebration of Life of Michael Ross (Nikki Adams' best friend) starting at 5 pm. Michael was a huge part of our community for 30 years and Nikki will pay tribute to him, along with many other fine entertainers that Michael called his friends through the years. Tuesday, January 31 Planeta Macho at Score has brought back the dancers on the 2nd level and they are now hosted by Teresita "La Caliente." The main level features the music of DJ George Ferrero with performances by Miami's queen of comedy, Mariloly!

Citing the $1.2 million donated back to local community organizations through the fundraising efforts of its Winter Party Festival and Miami Recognition Dinner, City Commissioner Michael Gongora proclaimed Wednesday, January 11, 2012, "National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Day" in Miami Beach.
