What's HOT South Florida (8/23/2012 - 8/30/2012)
|Written by Scott Holland|
This past week there were so many events I think I have to check myself into Betty Ford for exhaustion...LOL! It Started on Monday with the miss South Beach Pageant at Discotekka. There were 4 contestants but in the end Hotspots Magazine & Miami Gay Blog would like to congratulate our friends Noel Leon, the new Miss South Beach 2012 & Poizon Ivy, the new Miss South Beach Honorary. Tuesday night was the monthly Mack Mixer at the Ritz Carleton. Wednesday was a double event night as it was the Stonewall Summer Pride appreciation party at Richardson Park followed by the Pride Centers monthly Founders reception at the beautiful Daouds Jewelers. Friday night was the 3rd annual Broward Bares it, a benefit for Broward House at the Seminole Hardrock Casino and as usual it was a packed house. Saturday I made a Miami romp with Anthony Vericco and Josue Santiago which started the Pridelines Youth Services Celebrating 30 Years of Service and then went over to the 14th anniversary of Score, which was incredibly packed with lines down the block for hours. Congrats to Billy, Luis and the entire management and staff at Score for another successful year and wishing them many more to come! After Score I headed to Discotekka to hear DJ Theresa and see Madame LaQueer from RuPaul's Drag Race perform. We then headed over to Solare Coliseum to see Marytrini and special guests perform as well as say hello to my friend Stephen who is always so nice at the door!
This is HOT
Its summer time, which always seems to be the time wine tastes better. The Gallo family has been making quality wines for American families since 1933. For four generations, Gallo Family Vineyards has been dedicated to providing some of the best tasting wines at an affordable price.
Their Chardonnay is medium-bodied with citrus notes and hints of vanilla and pairs nicely with seafood dishes such as halibut with a mango and pineapple salsa to highlight the tropical fruit notes in this wine.
Their Pink Moscato is light-bodied with hints of red berries and orange. The light citrus flavors in this Pink Moscato pair nicely with sweet desserts or cheeses such as mahón and manchego.
Their Merlot is a smooth easy to drink wine with black cherry and ripe plum flavors. This Merlot’s fruit notes complement hearty flavors in meat dishes such as carne asada or homemade winter stews.
Their Moscato is refreshing with flavors of peach and tropical fruit. The sweetness in this Moscato balances the flavors in a wide variety of spicy dishes and the peach notes are a nice match for many soft and hard cheeses.
Their Sangria is a blend of fruity red wine with fresh citrus flavors of orange, lemon and lime.
With its citrus flavors, this Sangria is a refreshing match for fiery foods like chorizo or a pork bocadillo.
Gallo Family Vineyards offers the promise of flavor. In the Gallo family they back their wines. If you are not 100% satisfied with their wine, they would like you to let them know at GalloFamily.com. You can also contact them at Facebook.com/GalloFamilyVineyards or
