We’re Number 1!
Miami now ranks as number one in the nation for the cleanest air quality which means that we have healthy ozone levels and low pollution according the American Lung Association. “Generally, it’s pretty good,” said Andrew Cuddihy, the American Lung Association’s South Florida program director. “We actually benefit from a pretty good environment in South Florida. We don’t have a lot of heavy industry, but we do have a lot of cars.” Fanned by ocean breezes and free of smokestack industries, South Florida has generally enjoyed relatively clean air for an urban area.

Showing Support
M·A·C cosmetics has presented a $100,000 check to Care Resource through their M·A·C AIDS Fund for their Youth Health Intervention Project. The YHIP assists in educating young men on the causes of AIDS and AIDS/HIV prevention and encourages male youth to get immediate treatment if they believe they have the HIV virus.
Speaking of support, Hotspots Magazine basically shut down the offices the afternoon of Wednesday, May 1st so the entire staff could eat lunch together at Rosie’s in Wilton Manors. Wednesday was Dining Out for Life, a benefit also for Care Resource where Rosie’s donated a portion of their proceeds for the entire day to Care Resource and the great work they do in our community. Rosie’s was just one of over 40 restaurants in the Miami-Dade, Broward County area to support the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in South Florida.
