Week of July 10th 2008

Thank You

I cannot find words to express my deep gratitude to the charming, witty and classy, Mr. Jim Kolkana and to my friend of over twenty-five years, the adorable Mr. Victor Zepka, for honoring me with a never to be forgotten 69th birthday party at their magnificent high-in-the-sky penthouse on July 1st. I was deeply humbled and eternally grateful by the presence of over two hundred and fifty plus Beasley Black attired friends of mine that attended. It was an evening of total perfection in every way.

Vicky Bennett’s The Birdcage catered the event with her awesome staff of chefs serving a buffet-style full dinner that included steamship round of beef, roast turkey, several pasta's with top sirloin meatballs, Victor’s famous mashed potatoes with corn mix, an array of salads, jumbo shrimp and much more. Handsome Birdcage waiters passed trays of delicacies through the crowds and bartenders Ditmar and Shawn served cocktails from two bars, one on the huge wrap-around terrace and one inside the spacious living room.

The highly talented Ms. Debra Hampton entertained, singing a collection of my favorite songs. The Dixie Awards theme song “That’s What Friends Are For,” where she was joined by Tiffany Arieagus, Nikki Adams, Electra, Mary Jane Cunningham, Eddie O’Reilly, Big John, and the gorgeous Michaele Rand, was a real showstopper. It was dedicated to the memory of Dana Manchester, Michael “La La” Brown and Patti Kakes and brought a tear to many an eye, including mine.
It was an unforgettable “One Moment In Time,” an evening of friendship, joy and love that will go down in the books as magical.

To Jim, Victor, Vicky, their respective staff and Bob Kecskemety and Kameron Scott, who handled the video cams, to Pompano Bill, who photographed it, to all of the boys at Hotspots, and to all my dear friends all I can say is, “Thank You,” which can hardly sum up my true feelings of tremendous happiness and appreciation. Once again,
“Thank You!”

With love,
MRS. BEASLEY
