Durrell Parrish is the 1st in a series of five FIRST ever Miami Cover Model Contest winners selected by patrons at Twist on April 17th. Durrell, upon first meeting him, exudes masculinity as well as an intense, raw sexuality; his eyes sharp and piercing, his body strong and firm. Upon second look, however, there is more than meets the eye to this 19 year old student in the early stages of his studies in Pharmacy at Miami Dade College. When asked about his professional and personal goals, Durrell spoke at length about having a better life. “I've been learning how to play tennis,” Durrell says, and follows that by crediting working out frequently and playing sports like basketball and football to maintain the physical appearance that keeps heads turning. One of Durrell's more prominent memories of growing up involved playing football at Florida Christian and winning several All-State titles with his teammates. Sorry guys, Durrell is not on the market. Durrell credits his partner's “crazy, but in a fun and interesting way” attitude towards life in general as the basis for their productive relationship. Whether he is in the company of his partner or not, Durrell noted that he enjoyed “playing sports, going to the beach, and being in the scene at Twist, on Lincoln Road, and on South Beach” on the weekends. The paradigm of what it means to be young, Durrell enjoys eating everything, especially chicken, and listens to rap and hip hop, with Lil' Wayne being his particular favorite. Durrell gets even deeper than what he does in his pastime or what he likes to eat. When asked about living in Miami, Durrell said that Miami has taught him everything that he now knows about himself, our community and about life since he has never lived outside of the state. He goes on to talk about his sexuality, mentioning that “I am who I am, and it's not for others to judge or negatively criticize. It is my task to be comfortable in my shoes, pants, shirt and hat, just like it is solely your task to be comfortable in yours.” ![]() “The other day, a friend phoned me and talked about how he was down and out. After listening to him speak about the shortcomings in his life, I urged him to take life one day at a time, and surround himself with people who will uplift and encourage him to be and do better. Always seek out the opportunities that are out there and are rightfully yours.” Your OpinionClick on a top-level comment to explore tree (2 total comments)
