Founded in 1993, Tuesday's Angels Inc. began as a charity to give emergency financial assistance to those with HIV/AIDS and has evolved into a nonprofit organization that today countless people in the Fort Lauderdale area seek for assistance. What sets Tuesday's Angels apart from the crowd is the fact that 100% of all monies donated are utilized only to assist those in need. Unlike other similar organizations, every penny contributed goes toward the financial aid of the men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS, funneling all generated income back into our community. All other expenses and fees are paid either by Board Members or with interest income. Some of the other events that Tuesday’s Angels produces yearly are a golf outing in the fall, the 100% Solution Bike Ride For Life, and a Celebration Of Friends. The Bartender Boxers and Briefs Auction benefiting Tuesday’s Angels was held at Bill’s back in July and received overwhelming support from local bars, restaurants and businesses raising more then an astounding $22,000.

This was the 2nd annual Bartenders Boxers and Briefs auction and was produced by Don Clark (Manager of Bills, and former Hideaway Bartender). The Bartenders Boxers and Briefs Auction, was created by Don who felt the need to continue the community camaraderie that was created by the Bartenders Auction, which was around for about 15 years. This is the one night a year all the bars come together and according to Don, “the only competition that night is to see who can raise the most money for Tuesdays Angels.” Last year the event raised $10,000 and the goal was to raise $15,000 this year, so Don was very happy when the goal was surpassed by over $7,000.

Some of the higher amounts raised in the auction were: Dean from Sidelines $4,200, Erin & Dan from Rosie’s $4,000, and Jason from VooDoo Lounge $2,000 who all managed to sell their undies to the highest bidder. Some of these totals also reflect bid matching from their respective employers. We here at Hotspots Magazine would like to thank everyone for their attendance and support. A very special thank you goes out to Don Clark, Scott Mann, Ron Woolery, Martin Kelly, Jeff Shincarrick, Jackson and Mark, and Pooch from Scandals for their hard work putting this fundraiser together. In addition, we would like to thank the MC’s, Russell from Ramrod, Toni Barone, Miss Kitty, Misty Eyez, and the diva of South Florida, Nikki Adams, who all donated their times. You make us proud to call South Florida our home, our community.
