Care Resource celebrated its 25th anniversary at the newly remodeled Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach November 1st. In that time Care Resource has become a beacon of light in the lives of people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and has helped to bring us all out of the dark ages, when the success and availability of treatment options and information about HIV/AIDS were extremely limited.
Care Resource as we know it today is so different from its humble beginnings in October of 1983, when the Health Crisis Network was established to address the growing needs related to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In January of 1987, Cure AIDS Now was incorporated and became part of the Health Crisis Network. In June of 1989, the Community Research Initiative, a research organization responsible for sanctioning research and expediting treatment trials in the south Florida area, incorporated with the Health Crisis Network. In July of 1998, Health Crisis Network, Inc. and Community Research Initiative, Inc. merged to form Care Resource. In May of 2000, Cure AIDS now, Inc. changed its name to Food For Life Network, Inc and then was integrated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Care Resource, Inc. in July of 2007.

Guests of the cocktail reception and dinner included Samuel Blum, Russell Corbett, Richard Milstein, Paula Sparti, M.D., Robert Wennett, Richard Pollock and Frank Wager, who were honored for their dedication and service to the community, and in particular, the integral role that each played individually in the success of Care Resource. On behalf of all of us here at Hotspots Magazine, we'd like to congratulate the evening's honorees and extend our heartfelt appreciation for all that Care Resource has done and will continue to do for our community. It is our hope that long before another 25 years go by we will be celebrating the end of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which we are certain Care Resource will play an integral role in.
