The South Florida Category 5 (Cat 5) Flag Football team just returned from participating in the 10th Annual National Gay Flag Football Championships, Gay Bowl X, hosted by the Phoenix Hellraisers in Arizona. This was their 5th year competing in the tournament against teams from all over the country. This year, 26 teams from 21 cities, including NYC, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Denver, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago and more, competed in the tournament. Cat 5 finished with a 3-3 record.

Ybor City celebrates 25 years of this exciting event
Guavaween is Ybor's annual Halloween street party. The annual event always draws a huge diverse crowd (50,000 revelers have been known to attend!) and truly offers something for everyone. The event is a major fundraiser for the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce.

Poet, author and editor Emanuel Xavier has been called one of the most important openly gay Latino spoken word artists of his generation. Fellow author Jaime Manrique said, "Once in a generation, a new voice emerges that makes us see the world in a dazzling new light. Emanuel Xavier is that kind of writer." Born in Brooklyn, New York, Xavier is the child of an Ecuadorian mother and a Puerto Rican father who abandoned the family before his son was born.

The Royal Palms, which opened in 1991, and its owner Richard Gray have become synonymous with luxury accommodations for gay getaways in the Fort Lauderdale area. Richard was also instrumental in launching Fort Lauderdale as a top gay resort destination and is the first openly gay businessman to be appointed as Vice Chairman of the Broward County Tourist Development Council. Richard also oversees the gay marketing initiative for the Broward County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

SAVE Dade's Hellrotika: Circus of Lost Souls takes place October 30th. SAVE Dade is known for throwing an amazing annual themed Halloween bash and their 2010 party theme is Hellrotika: Circus of Lost Souls!
