After several months of consideration, focus group meetings and business negotiations, the owner of Sidelines Sports Bar, Laurie Whittaker, has made the decision to move Sidelines off “The Drive” and into to a new and larger location. Sidelines Sports Bar will soon be located at 2104 Oakland Park Boulevard, where the former “Jib Room” was once located.

For over six years, Sidelines has made a success of the gay sports bar brand and many of its loyal patrons and out-of-town customers have enjoyed the fun and friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service, attention to cleanliness, and comfortable ambience. There were, however, two major objections that warranted a serious look to overcoming them.

First, was the lack of parking which most businesses along “The Drive” wrangle with every day. The biggest and ongoing complaint Laurie heard from customers was that they could not find a parking space and after several attempts, eventually surrendered and drove home. The second objection was the lack of food service, usually found in most sports bar.

Sidelines is pleased to announce that their new home will have both of these in abundance. Parking will be FREE and the parking lot surrounding the new Sidelines is plentiful. In addition, the businesses along side Sidelines, have agreed to allow customers to utilize their parking spaces. Secondly, Sidelines Sports Bar will now have a full-service kitchen to entice and excite the palates of many future sports fans and customers.

Without giving away too many secrets, the acquisition of the new Sidelines Sports Bar, garners a total of 6,000 square feet of space, nearly double its current location. This expanded space will allow Sidelines to offer its customers new and unique choices, private parties, special events and larger room for games.

“I am so excited that we are moving to a bigger and better location”, comments Laurie Whittaker, owner of Sidelines Sports Bar. “Sidelines will always maintain the fun and ‘Cheers-like’ environment you’ve come to enjoy; only now, we will be able to give our customers even more reasons to visit and hang out”.
