GaYBOR & Tampa Bay Gossip & News
Happy Birthday Carrie
Carrie’s Birthday and Tea Dance at L’ Olivier’s – now that’s a wild combination! The party started at Streetcar Charlie’s and then moved to L’ Olivier’s for dinner and a show. Amy Demillo, Denise Russell and Beverly Wild. Carrie partied the night away with Donald and Bryan from the King & I Thai Restaurant and the packed house! We all agreed that Ms. Wild is someone to keep an eye on as the next up and coming diva star of Tampa Bay! Don’t forget about the flambé’ deserts at L’Oliviers!
This week a very nice grandmother came into our store. She told us that her grandson goes to high school with a gay guy that shops at our store. Her grandson was too shy to come into our store but liked the gay guy’s shirts bought here. We told her that we have been getting new shirts in every week. So the grandmother described the style and purchased several styles for her grandson. WOW, how times have changed.
After much anticipation The Ybor City Eagle opened. The club opened on May Day and did I see “May Baskets” everywhere!!!! The room was filled with cigar smoke, sweaty men and leather styles. The who’s who in the leather community were all there from across the state and beyond.
POWER of Rainbow Flags over GaYBOR
Looking to increase your GLBT business? Try flying a rainbow flag! Jimmy (who is straight, a staunch Ybor City resident and a nice guy) is the manager of the 15th & 7th Ave. parking lot, proudly flies his rainbow flag. He says the GLBT customers are just such nice people and he wanted to make them feel welcome. More people in Ybor need to follow Jimmy’s example. The owners also are members and supporters of GaYBOR District Coalition!
The popularity of Chelsea Club keeps going up and up! It’s easy to see why. Under the direction of owner, Chris, Chelsea keeps bringing you the very best in male dancers, drag show and just plain fun! The club is so hot that even the bar catches on FIRE!!!!! Chelsea Night club is a proud member of the GaYBOR District Coalition and Chris has been acommunity supporter for many years. It’s good to see our community supporting the business that support us! Located on Florida Ave. just a couple blocks south of 7th Ave., stop by and check out the party for yourself.
Talk about good cookies!!! The Tampa Bay Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence had a sidewalk bake sale. The good Sisters set up in front of MC Film and The Honey. They had truck drivers and more honking their horns in delight. As one person said, “Only in GaYBOR.” In 3 shorts hours they raised over $500. Congratulations!
