What’s hot around town, what to do, where to go and the hottest toys and gifts! A week ago Saturday was the 50th birthday party of owner Joe Marcella at Discotekka. Boy did they spend some serious cash on 50’s décor for the Grease themed event. Congrats to Joe, Wendy, Vegas and Danny for always delivering fabulousness and a special happy birthday from the entire Hotspots team to Joe. Last Thursday from 6 to 9 pm was the grand opening of Adams Interiors on Federal Highway on Furniture Row. When I arrived at 7 pm, there were no parking spots and it took me 10 minutes to find a spot. The store was jammed to support Big Mike and his team as well as to see and purchase some of the nicest and unique furniture South Florida has ever seen. Also on Thursday was the grand opening of 3D Thursdays at Sea Monster with DJ D Roller and hosted by Nikki Adams. This is a new alternative to your Thursday night plans and stays open until 4am, so check it out. Friday was the monthly (2nd Friday of the month) Sexy Bear contest at Bill’s hosted by Miss Kitty and Matthew Rush. They had 7 contestants, which they narrowed down to 3 and in the end the hot Freddy won. Now that was one sexy, hairy Latin man! On Saturday was the first day of celebration of Sidelines’ 3 year anniversary and the troops were out to party as the bar was jam packed. Congrats to Laurie, Marty and Jennifer for 3 fab years, and we will apprise you of the rest of the anniversary weekends festivities in next week’s magazine.

Outrage premieres today at the Gateway 4 and other theaters. From Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Kirby Dick (This Film Is Not Yet Rated) comes Outrage, a searing indictment of the hypocrisy of closeted politicians with appalling gay rights voting records who actively campaign against the LGBT community they covertly belong to. Boldly revealing the hidden lives of some of the United States’ most powerful policymakers, Outrage takes a comprehensive look at the harm they’ve inflicted on millions of Americans, and examines the media’s complicity in keeping their secrets. With analysis from prominent members of the gay community such as Congressman Barney Frank, former NJ Governor Jim McGreevey, activist Larry Kramer, radio personality Michelangelo Signorile and openly gay congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (Representative, Wisconsin 2nd district), Outrage probes deeply into the psychology of this double lifestyle, the ethics of outing closeted politicians, the double standards that the media upholds in its coverage of the sex lives of gay public figures and much more.
