July 9, 2009

What’s hot around town, what to do, where to go and the hottest toys and gifts!

Juan Bracho, one of the models in our Summer Fashion spread (and one of the sexiest men I have ever met), celebrated his 35th birthday in a beautiful oriental style in midtown Miami at the Cite Condominium in the Social Room. Flowers, music, delicious food everything was perfectly set up for the theme. Juan was accompanied by twenty friends, including the Venezuelan Model Mima Valvuena who was beautifully dressed as a geisha.  The birthday cake, made by Paul Bakery was exquisite. Tuesday night I went to Intoxiskate for the first time in about a year and reminded myself how much fun this weekly gay skate is. Among the many patrons was Jon Elu (owner of the Lounge in WPB) and 2 of HGTV’s Design Stars, Mikey V from Season 3 and Nathan Galui of the upcoming season (check out his exclusive interview in next week’s Hotspots). Wednesday, July 1st was the 16th anniversary of Twist and once again their anniversary was a who’s who of the South Beach scene. Congrats to Joel, Richard and the entire Twist family on a fabulous anniversary! We wish them many more years to come! Thursday was the 43rd birthday of AJ Cross at Club 11/Johnny’s and was a benefit for Kids In Distress. Congrats to Sean and his entire staff for throwing an all-star birthday party and raising lots of money for a good cause! Saturday afternoon my neighbor across the street, Jeff Miller, had a pool party and as you can see from the pic there were plenty of sexy men. Now that’s what I call celebrating independence.

Sidelines Sports Bar is delighted to announce its inaugural sponsorship of the SMART Ride 6, the two-day, 165 mile, bicycle ride from Miami, FL to Key West, FL. The SMART Ride, also known as The Southernmost AIDS/HIV Ride, is a fundraising effort born out of a vision that 100% of what the participants raise could go to charity and could maintain some control over the distribution of their funds. Last year alone The SMART Ride raised almost $600,000 for a number of charitable organizations. The Ride begins in Miami, FL on Friday, January 8th, 2010 with Opening Ceremonies and an early morning Ride Out to Duck Key, where riders will stay overnight. Then on Saturday, January 9th, the Ride Out begins and ends in Key West, FL with a much heralded Closing Ceremony. The Ride is fully supported and is designed to allow riders of all different degrees of experience to participate. The Ride is not a race, it is a ride. Sidelines Sports Bar will also be joining this year’s ride with “Team Sidelines,” a group of committed individuals who desire to give of themselves for this worthwhile cause. The team is made up of staff, loyal patrons, friends and family who see this as another opportunity to give back to the LGBT community.

Help Neglected Animals
The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals.  It takes less than a minute (about 15 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box ‘fund food for animals for free’. This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here’s the web site: TheAnimal RescueSite.com.
