Labor Day Weekend – The party kicked off Friday night at Steam Fridays with International VJ David Knapp. There was an over the top party at Chelsea’s Lounge and all the other clubs, too. Saturday was what Ybor is famous for – WILD SATURDAYS! Sunday started off at Streetcar Charlie’s for their “Praise the Lord & Pass the Biscuits” Gospel Brunch! The new outside cafe seating area is now open at Streetcar Charlie’s. The GaYBOR Labor Day Cabana Pool Party was poolside at the Howard Johnson Riverside Plaza Hotel overlooking the Hillsborough River and University of Tampa Parks.

The event was hosted and drag performances by our own Miss Joey Brooks and Arica Love, dancers from Steam and G.BARand DJ CK spun the discs all night. There was also a leather T-Dance at The Ybor Eagle & 80s T-Dance at G.BAR.

The demolition of the old Victoria Secrets in Centro Ybor to make way to be the home of the new Tribeca Color Hair Salon is almost finished! Located on 8th Avenue in Centro Ybor, it will be over 10,000+ sq ft and includes a hair academy, nail salon, gift shop and much more! The owners of the new Hamburger Mary’s Ybor were in MC Film purchasing knick knacks and chotchkies to accent the new restaurant. They reported that everything is coming along GREAT! The Lower Red Lounge, located behind The Rare Olive on 16th Street, has become quite the neighborhood place to be. Stop by and tell the twin girl owners hi from us! A new antique retro and reproduction classic furniture store is opening right next to Honey Pot on 7th Ave. The owners have stores in Miami and hope to open Ybor’s location by mid-September! The New Show at L Olivier’s Bistro & Cabaret is almost finished. How could they improve on their perfect show? The W Lounge is closed for the next week or so for renovations. The managers told us it was “Top Secret!” There are 3 possible (and maybe 4) new clubs opening in Tampa! In Ybor there are rumors of a new country western club, a new show bar/dance club opening mid-October and anNew GLBT sports club set to open in November. Just outside of Ybor there is rumored to be a new/old club opening with the “Same Script, Different Cast.” WOW, and that was all in one week!
