The parties kicked into high gear starting Friday night with International DJ David Knapp at Steam Friday’s. G.BAR was packed with porn stars! MC Film was busy as everybody stocked up on the party essentials…hot fall fashions, swimwear, music, lube, etc. Everywhere you looked in Ybor there were unbelievable parties! DjCK keep the crowd moving to the very hottest and newest in music. Inside was a nonprofit vendor show featuring GaYBOR Members like The Salvador Dali Museum, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and ASAP. Miss Arica Love and Daphne Ferraro both performed. During a remix of “Sand Storm and Dive into the Pool” Miss Ferraro did exactly that – dived into the pool! Then she broke out into a gay version of Ester Williams Water Follies! Non-violent Hate Crime in GaYBOR
A hate crime is a hate crime, with or without violence! On Saturday around 6 am Mathieu S. was on his way to The Honey Pot to start setting up for the evening’s special party. He witnessed a man on the corner of 7th Ave. and 15th Street down on his knees with a screw driver scraping the street tile. Taking a closer look, the man was scraping GAY off the tiles. Mathieu asked him what he was doing and he said, “Getting rid of all this gay shit!” Mathieu did the right thing and called the police. The police talked with the man and let him get on the bus and leave. Mathieu again did the right thing and questioned the police. That guy just vandalized 3 tiles that cost $100 each! The second group of police chased after the bus, pulled the guy off and arrested him. The police are now asking that the man be charged with a hate crime. No matter how small, all hate crimes are still hate crimes. It’s everybody’s duty to stand up and say, “NO!”
