Features 08 DR MAX

Upon sitting down with Dr. Max Zaslavsky we had an immediate bond, not only because of his inviting smile but because we both received our graduate degrees from the same university, and are also both from Brooklyn, NY. “Dr. Max” is friendly, charming, and easy to talk to, which are three key ingredients that are important when you are looking for a dentist. After chatting about our university days and growing up in the NY area,  it was a pleasure to conduct this one on one interview with a dentist that truly cares about his patients.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated with a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree in 2004 from Nova Southeastern University.

Do you have any awards?

Yes, I am an award winner from both the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. In addition, I am currently featured in the winter edition of New Beauty magazine (the one with Madonna on the cover).

How long have you been practicing, and how long have you been in this practice?

I have been practicing since 2004 in various locations until deciding to make the jump onto purchasing my own office. I had been between Ft. Myers and Deerfield Beach, until deciding it was time for me to embark on my own. February 18th marked the one year anniversary of purchasing my own practice.

drmax3What are the newest innovations in dentistry?

Implants are always getting better to help patients that are suffering from tooth loss. They not only help restore patients’ mouths to a healthy dentition, but the recovery time has drastically been cut down to a matter of a few days.

Another exciting new development is MI Paste, which is a gel that contains calcium, phosphorous and fluoride to strengthen teeth and make them more resistant to decay. This gel can reverse minor damage and prevent things from getting worse. This gel is also used with our bleaching procedures to help decrease sensitivity. Another new innovation in the field is digital radiography, which eliminates 80% of the x-ray radiation than of conventional x-rays. Lastly, it is very exciting that even dentistry is going green. For example our impression trays are biodegradable and many other things are recyclable.

Do you take insurance?

We are an insurance friendly office as we take almost every PPO under the sun. We also take some discount plans. Check out the office website www.DrMaxDMD.com if you have any questions. Keep in mind we don’t treat your insurance in my office, we treat the patient.

Tell me about your staff?

I have 3 very competent and extremely accommodating staff members. Maria has been in the dentistry field for over 17 years, Nadia who also works at the Shelbourne Hotel as a concierge, and Joanne who has been a hygienist for over 25 years.

What is your philosophy of dentistry?

That mouths don’t walk in the door, people do. My own father developed a severe heart condition due to bad dentistry, so I am very sensitive about treating everyone completely. I treat every patient as if they were my father or brother and explain to them in detail that what I am suggesting for their treatment is what I would suggest to my own family.
