Congratulations to Kennedy Davenport, the new Miss Revolution 2010. I had the pleasure of sitting down with this goddess from Dallas TX (currently residing in Fort Lauderdale) and found out that this beauty has her “A” game on at all times. Miss Davenport has many titles, including Miss Black US of A, Miss Gaybor and now Miss Revolutions 2010. Miss Davenport is a Virgo and loves the color blue, and as I helped her put on her bracelet she lets me know she has been in the business since 1997 and does not plan to stop anytime soon. All my love to her and I wish her all success.

Playwright Michael Wanzie will once again take to the stage as Pearl Locksdale, along with Frank McClain as physiatrist Dr. Robert Burroughs and Miss Sammy playing herself in “55 West: A High Rise Church Street Comedy” opening at the Footlight Theatre at the Parliament House. In this, his third sequel to the original “Ladies of Eola Heights” (which broke all box office records at the 170 seat Footlight Theatre during its unprecedented 9-month run in 2005), Wanzie pares the cast down to 3 onstage performers as the action of this installment moves from the old clapboard house on Cathcart Street to Orlando’s newest condo tower located at 55 West Church Street.

In this new stand-alone comedy (which can be enjoyed whether or not theater-goers are familiar with the previous 4 plays), Pearl can see a lot through her binoculars from her high-rise patio perch! Orlando notables ranging from theater critic and arts blogger Elizabeth Maupin to Orlando City Commissioner Daisy Lynum, along with many other familiar people and Orlando locales, figure into the dialogue and the laughs in this 2-person high-camp comedy punctuated with novelty lip-sync routines performed by Orlando’s premiere drag persona, Miss Sammy. The play will be staged by Wanzie Presents’ artistic director, Kenny Howard. “55 WEST: A High Rise Church Street Comedy” will be presented Saturday evenings only, March 13 through April 3, 2010. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased exclusively through the online box office at Wanzie.com/boxoffice.

To Your Health – Dr. Max Zaslavsky

Upon sitting down with Dr. Max Zaslavsky we had an immediate bond, not only because of his inviting smile but because we both received our graduate degrees from the same university, and are also both from Brooklyn, NY. “Dr. Max” is friendly, charming, and easy to talk to, which are three key ingredients that are important when you are looking for a dentist. After chatting about our university days and growing up in the NY area, it was a pleasure to conduct this one on one interview with a dentist that truly cares about his patients.
