Well Central Florida, you have shown me love – from St. Pete to Tampa, GaYbor, Ybor City, Orlando and down south as well. In this issue I am giving it back! Diva Miss Darcel Stevens gave me a sit down last week and we went back in time. Miss Stevens is the fourth MC at the Parliament House and a shining star if you ask me. She has been with the Parliament House in Orlando for 17 years (I was just a little drag queen at Tracks Tampa 17 years ago). “She has done a fabulous job,” says owner Don of the Parliament House.
She is from Crystal River, FL and she has many loved ones in Florida of her own and is a board member of Hope and Help Center of Central Florida Miss Stevens’ interests are real people (preach it, sister!), music (she likes Anita Baker and Patti La belle – good toe-tapping gospel music) and her favorite TV show is “The View.” Her favorite movie is “The Color Purple” and her favorite book is “Josephine Baker” by Chris Chase. Miss Stevens believes the adage that “Faith without WORK is dead” and is loyal to her friends, assertive (not mean), often misunderstood and hates bull! Right on, girl! So, as I always say, “Where is love?” It was at Parliament House in Orlando! Special congratulations to Miss Kennedy Davenport, a winner in all things. She doe’s 3 titles in a week and half… I would say she is following in some big footsteps!
All my love to you all in central Florida.

Broadway’s Seth Rudetsky returns to Footlight Theater at the Parliament House in “Deconstructing the Brady Bunch Variety Show.” Seth will be focusing on the short-lived but mind-boggling series: The Brady Bunch Variety Hour. The show debuted in 1977 and was (not surprisingly) cancelled the same year, but there are nine delicious episodes that merit severe analysis. In his “Deconstructing” shows, Mr. Rudetsky screens for the audience seldom seen or impossible to see elsewhere video clips of noteworthy (or should we say infamous?) performances which he then proceeds to deconstruct by way of his unique standup comedy styling’s and his equally infamous ability to find humor in all things “headache-y.” The result is always nothing short of hilarious. Tickets to the show are only $25. To make reservation go to Wanzie.com/boxoffice
