Last Wednesday a benefit was held at Monkey Business for my friend Eduardo Nunez, Mr. Carolina Continental, to send him to Mr. Continental in Chicago this Labor Day Weekend. Seen and performing there were Latrice Royale, Misty Eyez, Amanda West, Athena, T-Lo and many more. Afterwards I headed over to the Voodoo Lounge for the grand opening of their Whip It Wednesdays. The night is hosted by Daisy Deadpetals and deejayed by Daisy and Misha. After a soft opening a few weeks ago, it is packing in the late night crowd every Wednesday. On Friday night a few of the Hotspots staff headed to the Tampa Bay area, checked in to the Hampton Inn and Suites Ybor and headed straight to Hamburger Mary’s Tampa for dinner and the Leigh Shannon show. This was the first time Leigh brought her Illusions show to the Tampa Hamburger Mary’s and it went over extremely well…

whatshotSFL2On Friday night a few of the Hotspots staff headed to the Tampa Bay area, checked in to the Hampton Inn and Suites Ybor and headed straight to Hamburger Mary’s Tampa for dinner and the Leigh Shannon show. This was the first time Leigh brought her Illusions show to the Tampa Hamburger Mary’s and it went over extremely well…congrats to all! Later that night I went to the Honey Pot, which is always packed and fun on Friday nights. Thanks to Stephen Moss and Steve Donahue for always taking care of us. Saturday was Pride on 7th, the first time Tampa had a pride event in 10 years. Thanks to Jorge Alvarado and the Umbrella Management Group for organizing this event in only 60 days. Later at night Jorge presented a fashion show for his new underwear line. The show was fabulous and featured a lot of hot men and a special performance by Power Infiniti.

whatshotSFL3Sunday night we headed over to St. Petersburg to the Flamingo Resort for the final day of their weekend long celebration of the Flamingo’s 1st anniversary.

Elaine Lancaster wears many wigs: socialite, activist, fundraiser, actor, writer and philanthropist and soon, reality star. She is without doubt one of the most recognizable unorthodox celebrities of her kind in the world. Elaine will be honored tonight just days after her birthday by the staff, management and owners of Score Bar. Miami Beach City Commissioner Michael Gongora will also be on hand to honor Miss Lancaster. Score will give Elaine and her legions of friends, family and fans, Ho’tel Lancaster 2010. Elaine is fresh back from Vienna, Austria where she was an honored co-host of the 18th Annual Life Ball along with President Bill Clinton, Whoopi Goldberg, Patti LaBelle, Diane von Furstenberg and Kenneth Cole among others. In March 2010, a hate group called the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) came to Richmond, Virginia to protest local LGBT and Jewish organizations. Instead of fighting the WBC’s hate with more anger, four local moms came together and used the visit as an opportunity to spread kindness through the community. In less than a week, they founded Pennies in Protest, raised over $14,000, and gave it directly to the targeted organizations. Those moms have now set up a “how-to” website that teaches anyone, anywhere how to do what they did: PenniesInProtest.com. The WBC’s website, which is GodHatesFags.com (yes, really) has a full schedule of where the WBC plans to visit next and which organizations they plan to protest. Anyone is free to use the name, anyone is free to use the materials on their website, including sample letters, press releases, tweets, etc. They even have a photograph of the thank you note they sent to the WBC on behalf of the GLBT and Jewish organizations who got all the money. They say the thank you note was a very fun and satisfying part of the process!

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded The Pride Center at Equality Park a $1.5 million, five-year program grant which began on August 1, 2010. The funding will be used to develop and implement HIV Prevention Services for men who have sex with men (MSM) groups in which there may be a high risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV infection regardless of race or ethnicity. “The Pride Center was able to show the Health Department meaningful results with its current HIV prevention programs,” Jorge Gardela, Senior Health Outreach Manager, said in a statement. “As a result, CDC funding will enable the agency to continue its important work in the community on a much larger scale.” The CDC grant will give The Pride Center the ability to expand on-going efforts and incorporate the CDC’s Health and Community Services Program (HCSP): Counseling Testing and Referral Services, RESPECT Intervention for Behavioral Change, and Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services into the highest risk segment of the MSM population.

whatshotSFL14Do you feel like G-d hasn’t given you enough beef in the booty? Well fret not because designer Andrew Christian just released ActiveSHAPE which instantly creates the perfect bubble butt with Active Shaping Technology, a removable curved foam shaping cup that adds up to 2″ (5 cm) onto your buttock measurement. Designer Andrew Christian says, “The inside of the curved cup is concave and has beveled edges so it fits snug to the natural shape of your butt and looks completely natural without any strange bumps or lines, unlike other rear shapers that are made up of a thick flat foam. The Active Shaping Technology was hard to develop but I wanted something that would look completely natural when worn.” ActiveSHAPE comes in five colors with fun, retro style lines. This item also comes with an extra-wide Anti-Muffin Top elastic band to slim the appearance of your waistline. This item is great for sports like cycling that require a little extra cushion in the rear. This item features super sporty style lines down the front and an inset contrasting panel on the sides along with contrasting leg openings. This item is made from 90% soft cotton and 10% spandex for great fabric stretch and recovery for sports and other activities. As with all Andrew Christian products they are handmade in the Andrew Christian Design Studio in Los Angeles, California. For more information or to purchase any of the Andrew Christian line go to AndrewChristian.com
