Well boys and girls, I’ve got a busy week planned for all of you, so get out those phones and get ready to put these events on your calendars because we’ve got a little bit of something for everyone! The Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival kicks off this week as does Orlando Pride. Both events, along with the fantastic events we have going on right her in our own back yard, are going to keep you on the move. Remember, it’s you, our community, who are the ones who keep these events and venues alive, so please remember to show your support because without your support, none of the below would continue to be possible. “Live, live, live…Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death”… now, go out and live everyone! Until next week, much love to you all!

Gay Events in Central Florida This Week

Thursday, October 7th

Tonight is the night that the past 10 weeks have been leading up to! It’s the grand finale for the GaYbor Talent Search at JJ’s. Come out tonight and cheer on your favorite winners from the past 10 weeks as they give you all they’ve got to win the grand prize vacation getaway! The show starts at 10, so come early because we know it’s going to be packed!

Tonight marks the start of Orlando Pride, one of the fastest growing Pride celebrations in Florida. Come out and watch the lighting of the flame as Orlando Pride kicks off tonight. It’s going to be a night of celebrations with old friends, new friends, entertainment and drinks right in the heart of downtown Orlando. The ceremony is free to attend. It starts at 7 pm, ends at 10 pm and will be located at the Plaza Cinema Café Courtyard.

gay-events-central-florida-1The Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival kicks off tonight with nearly two week’s worth of festivities. Tonight is the premier of “Violet Tendencies.” I had a chance to watch the trailer for the movie and it’s hysterical! My friend Mindy Cohn (Natalie from “The Facts of Life”…and yes, she really is a friend of mine!) plays Violet, Manhattan’s greatest fag hag. There’s nothing more that I’ll say other than the movie is filled with a steady stream of young studs…YUM! Showtime is at 7:45 pm and is at the Tampa Theatre on Franklin Street. Visit TIGLFF.com for more info.

Friday October 8th

It’s getting a little steamy in here boys….maybe that’s because tonight is Steam Fridays at The Honey Pot in GaYbor! Billboard reporting DJ Greg Anderson serves it up to you with the best in music videos and Brian serves you up a light show that can rival the best nightclubs in Ibiza. The boys are hot, the drinks are strong and if you don’t hook up with a hottie tonight, well… the Ybor Resort and Spa is a few blocks away.

Holy sh*t, did you hear that? It sounded like an explosion and wait, it looks like it came from The Parliament House. That’s right everyone, tonight is the Explosion event and it’s full of your favorite “RuPaul’s Drag Race” performers. Orlando’s own Tyra Sanchez is joined by her sisters JujuBee, Nina Flowers and Ongina (her little hats are so cute!). This is a great way for you and your friends to celebrate Orlando Pride weekend at the infamous P House. Showtimes are at 10 pm and midnight.

Pulsate Pride is the official Pride event taking place tonight at Pulse Nightclub where 18 and up are welcome! DJ Scott Robert is on the decks for your listening pleasure with Roxxy Andrews and Blade Matthews hosting the show tonight. The club is beautiful (and so are the dancers), so come out with pride to Pulse and party, party, party! There is no cover for this event if you are a Rock Star Pass holder.

Come out and enjoy a great brunch at Lake Eola today while celebrating Orlando Pride. This is a great way to start off your day of pride celebrations and if you like, you can even stay to watch the parade go by after 2 pm. The brunch is being prepared by 903 Mills Market, which means it will be delicious. The location is on Robinson at the far end of the festival by the pond. The cost is $20 for the virgin brunch and $30 for the brunch with unlimited mimosas… such a bargain!

gay-events-central-florida-4Today, at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando is the official Come out with Pride event. The fun starts at 12 noon and continues until 6 pm. There will be over 100 vendors, a food court, over 8 bars and some fantastic entertainment including Martha Wash, singer of “It’s Raining Men” and Brian Kent. Hotspots is an official media sponsor, so be sure to stop by our booth in the vendors area and say hi…oh, and before you do, could someone please bring me a Gyro? A bitch has to eat ya know!

The Come out with Pride Parade starts at 2 pm on the corner of Robinson Street and N. Rosalind Ave. and encircles a good part of Lake Eola. It will continue down Rosalind Avenue, going left on Central Blvd. then it continue to N. Summerlin Ave., where it will turn left going back up to Robinson Street to end at the corner of Robinson and N. Eola Drive. In saying that, there will be lots of great areas for you to sit and enjoy the parade. Be sure to wave hi to my sisters on the GaYbor float as they go by!

If you like, free parking is available at the Parliament House for the Pride festivities. They will be offering a free shuttle to and from the pride festival from 12 pm to 8 pm. They are also having a special Pride T Dance with a free BBQ from 7 pm to 9 pm and a Pride Show at 10.

Wednesday, October 6th

IF you want a little taste of South Beach right here in Saint Pete the Flamingo is where you’ll want to be tonight. DJ Rob Nanncy is spinning some salsa and merengue for you to dance to from 9 pm to close. There will be a special performance by Latin dancers Martin Mata and Raymond Rodriguez at 10 pm.
