The fourth eliminated contestant to sashay away on LOGO TVs RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 is Mariah Balenciaga. Here is what India had to say.
At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
At 18, I dressed up at Halloween and I got the bug.
How did you pick your name?
It was given to me from the person who discovered me in the Ballroom scene. It rhymes with my boy name Elijah, so it was easy for me to remember.
How did you go about getting on “RuPauls Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?
After season 2 I decided I was going to apply so I submitted my pics and application and had to rush to submit a video in only 3 days. I then played the waiting game. I was so happy when I was picked.
It was very interesting and different from anything I have ever been through. It was a surreal experience. I am enjoyed different parts of it for different reasons and I would definitely do it again.
Who do you want to win?
I would love for Yara to win because she is a genuine person who is talented and self sufficient. She is also beautiful, mysterious and edgy and has all the elements to be a phenomenal drag superstar!
Tell us about the man behind Mariah?
I am a hair stylist that has a calm Clark Kent personality behind the chaos. I have a very close small knit circle of friends who surround me with positive energy. I enjoy life for the ride it is.
Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you.
I am a home body, who is a very relaxed person. I am an open book, so people pretty much know that what you see is what you get.
What’s ahead for Mariah?
I would definitely love to pitch a show to Logo and I hope to be on the Logo’s Drag Race Tour, featuring cocktails perfected by ABSOLUT®. I also hope to tour around the country and meet everybody and I want Joan Rivers to give me a call so we can be a great team on the red carpet. I love her and her mouth!
