The hippest electronic music lovers from all over the world descend upon South Beach every year to experience Winter Music Conference. If you’ve never attended this annual event, and you consider yourself a trendsetter who knows what’s hot before everyone else, than this is definitely something you want to experience.

Lady Gaga performed on the rooftop of the Raleigh at a WMC 2008 event sponsored by Armani Exchange. Just a mere few years ago, Gaga was an unknown back then and made a big impact at the festival. Another big name who started out with WMC is Rihanna who was promoting her hit “Pon De Replay” in 2006. In addition to artists getting their start at the festival, WMC is also a stop for established artists coming out to try something new on an eager crowd. Black Eyed Pea’s Will.I.Am came to WMC last year to test some new beats on the crowd and other performers last year include Deadmau5 and David Guetta.

The 26th annual Winter Music Conference will take place March 8 – 12 at the Miami Beach Convention Center and other venues throughout Miami Beach and the greater Miami area. Last year WMC attracted 3,763 registered music industry participants from 70 countries and over 100,000 event participants who took part in five days of seminars, workshops, exhibits and performances. Over its long history WMC has become known by industry insiders and fans as the event for those who are launching new music, technology and trends in the music business. The conference is a huge a platform for underground artists from over 70 different countries and its also popular with electronic companies who want to unveil new developments.

There are over 500 events taking including various club events and hotel parties, seminars and panels. Some events during WMC include a DJ Spin-Off, A VJ Challenge, A Record Collectors Show, The 26th Annual International Dance Music Awards (IDMA). Winter Music Conference attracts around 60,000 visitors to our backyard.

There are a few changes to WMC for this year. In the past, the conference was hosted at hotels, but this year it will have its main events at Miami Beach Convention Center. Another change to the event is the loss of the Ultra Music Festival, which normally takes place during WMC. The Festival has moved to late March.
