Saturday afternoon the cute guys at Latinos Salud threw a Pool party at The Aragon Inn. The party was packed with lots of Latin papi’s in bathing suits getting wet. Needless to say I had fun…hehe! Saturday Night was the 10th annual Miami Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s gala with this year’s color of the rainbow theme being Purple. The event once again took place at the beautiful Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel with hundreds of attendees. Many well established large companies buy tables and this just goes to show what support the gay community has in Miami (pictured is my friend Maria and hubby and some of the staff of FPL). lgbt-events-south-florida-3Saturday and Sunday (although I was only there on Sunday) was the annual Palm Beach Pride produced by Compass of the Palm Beaches. Year after year, this event that takes place at Bryant Park in beautiful Lake Worth, this event gets better and better. This tears theme was Glee and once again Velvet LeNore put on a production at Pride which she has become famous for (38 minutes worth). Kudos to Tony Plakas (Executive Director of Compass), Ana Lucia (his administrative assistant) and the entire compass staff on another fabulous pride! After the festival ended Cottage had the Official Pridefest T dance and, once again, it was packed inside and out. They even put up a tent in the back parking lot to accommodate the overflow of partiers’. Don’t forget to check out this happening T dance every Sunday at the Cottage!

lgbt-events-south-florida-11Already proven as a talented, sought after songwriter and revered platinum-selling artist, Marsha Ambrosius is meeting the next challenge in her already impressive musical career by reinventing herself as a solo artist with her J Records debut CD Late Nights & Early Mornings. Hailing from Liverpool, England, fans first got a taste of Marsha’s talent as the singing half of the duo Floetry. Their 2000 debut Floetic produced signature singles like “Say Yes” and “Getting Late” as well as four Grammy nods. Marsha continued to build a name for herself as a songwriter and producer, creating “Butterflies” for the late Michael Jackson and other hits for artists such as Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx and Nas. She’s been nominated for a total of six Grammys and has been honored by BMI as their Songwriter of the Year.

lgbt-events-south-florida-13Over the years, Marsha has stayed relevant as an artist via touring, writing/producing and mixtapes. She also appeared as a featured artist on projects from Patti Labelle, The Game, Busta Rhymes, Jamie Foxx and Earth, Wind & Fire, among others. Late Nights & Early Mornings is destined to be a classic, as Marsha offers a candid glimpse of her life and perspectives as a woman. Inspired by musical icons like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Prince, she concedes there is an overall male influence in her songwriting, such as the assertive sentiments heard on hits like “Say Yes.” Musical peers recruited to contribute to the project include Alicia Keys, a reunion with Dre and Vidal (producers of “Say Yes”), Just Blaze and Focus. While her success in the industry is already solidified, Marsha knows it’s never easy to win over fans as a solo artist. Fortunately, she says, “It’s like being thrown in the deep end. ‘Okay I have to swim? Oh well.’ I’ve taken that attitude and it’s carried me forward.”
