Almost all brands have an iconic signature and here in South Florida the Bulls-Eye is Score’s brand recognition. The world famous bar/club will be celebrating their 13th anniversary on the popular Lincoln Road on Sunday, July 17th from 10 pm to 5 am with Ukrainian Pop sensation Kazaky performing live in their first US appearance and International circuit DJ/producer Abel at the turntables. As this momentous occasion approaches, it was a pleasure to sit down with the owners of Score for a Hotspots Exclusive interview!

1) When did you come up with the concept to open Score and what was the process of opening it like?

It all began back in 1997 when 2 former owners of Uncle Charlies in NYC decided to move to Florida due to the massive gay population in South Beach and saw the need of a gay bar.

2) When did you realize your dream was a success?

We consider our concept a success when we see our patrons smiling, laughing, having fun; when we get such positive feedback and now when we get so many requests of artists and deejays to perform at SCORE.

3) What makes Score such a success?

The success behind SCORE comes from the intensive labor its ownership puts into the business, such as creative marketing ideas to promote the club, updating the decor, sound maintenance, etc.

4) Tell us about the metamorphosis of Score over the years?

We continue to work on bringing the best entertainment and keeping our location fresh. All the decisions and changes are made based on the market needs. Our changes on sound, video, decor and architecture change as the years progress as every generation is different. Today, we decided to expand and create a sister company “SCORE Productions” which will be producing parties in different locations and working on different promotions to take care of our locals during these financially difficult times.

5) You are heavily involved in the community and the non for profits. Tell me more about this?

To name a few: Task Force, Care Resource, SOBAP, Equality Florida and Pridelines.

We try to support as many as we can as each of them targets different aspects which play important roles in our community

score-13-anniversary-26) What has been some of your favorite moments/events over the years?

It’s been so long and there’s been so many: Our legendary Sunday T-dances where crowds used to line up on Lincoln Road to get in, Danny Tenaglia’s Birthday party as no one expected a DJ of his caliber to spin at a local Gay bar, Latin Artist Iris Chacon amazing performance at her age no-one expected it, Lady Gaga’s January 2010 appearance at and her talking about our club in all of her Miami acts, and we try to get something memorable out of every party we throw!

7) What’s ahead for Score?

Producing more and more fun events, we are in the works on creating 2 extra nights that will bring a different element to Miami’s Gay Nightlife, continue the support to our Non-Profit organizations, working together with record labels on showcasing up and coming talent and continue working on SCORE productions for parties at different locations.
