A Week ago Tuesday was the quarterly Mack Luncheon, this time held at the beautiful Seasons 52. As usual it was a sold out event and a great place to network your business. Thursday night I went to dinner at The Manor where I finally had time to try the Prime Rib special, which I must say was mouth watering. I don’t know what spices they use to marinade the Prime Rib, but damn it’s good and a must try for everyone! Friday night I headed down to South Beach as my good friend (she is really my sista) and former editor of Genre Latino, Josue Santiago, had a house party. Gay, Straight, Lesbian…it was a fun time for all and reminded me of New York parties. Saturday, was a pack filled night. First was Bill’s for their first Boylesque show. Then I headed to…

First was Bill’s for their first Boylesque show.

lgbt-events-south-florida-2Then I headed to Miami to Club Sugar for one of the official preliminary’s to the Celebrate Orgullo dance contest. The show was hosted by Teresita and there were 5 couples who entered including a lesbian couple and a couple with a gay man and a transsexual as a partner. Thanks to Club Sugar for such a fabulous contest!

lgbt-events-south-florida-3Afterwards I headed to Discotekka for Vegas’ birthday Foam Party extravaganza. After the success of the last few foam parties, where the foam was in the Forbidden room, they decided to move the foam to the main room, and festive it was! Lots of cute boys all foamed up in cute little outfits! A very happy birthday to my good friend Vegas (pictured her with promoter extraordinaire Milancita). Sunday afternoon was the monthly T Dance at Royal Palms and once again it was a big success. It’s fun standing around the pool mingling while sipping on a delicious drink! Afterwards I went with a few friends to J. Marks for dinner, which as usual was FABULOUS! There are just so many dishes on that menu that are my favorites. It’s always hard for me to choose, but this time I settled on the Chicken Madeira…melts in your mouth!

lgbt-events-south-florida-4Today marks the one year anniversary of the end of Florida’s notorious anti-gay adoption ban. Today, all across our state, LGBT families are able to adopt children. In striking down the ban, the Florida appeals court stated something we already knew, that “gay people and heterosexuals make equally good parents.” The repeal of Florida’s anti-gay adoption ban has been a huge victory for both LGBT people and for the thousands of children looking for forever homes. The ACLU led the legal battle while Equality Florida worked with the Governor and DCF to ensure the repeal would go into effect immediately, rather than get delayed in the Supreme Court. Equality Florida will be marking the one year anniversary of this historic day by showcasing Florida’s LGBT families, because nothing changes hearts and minds more than seeing the love our families share.
