Hotspots Magazine: How did you get started in the club world?

DJ Oren Nizri: I started in the DJ world as a radio DJ. I hosted a bi-weekly radio show named “In My House” in one of Tel Aviv’s hottest radio stations of that time and that got my career started. My show was very popular and had very loyal followers all over my country and abroad. That led me to start getting bookings across Israel and in Europe and that is how my DJ career successfully began.

What was your first residency?

A club in Tel Aviv called “The Warehouse.” That was my first residency back in the day.

What are some of the major cities you have spun it?

I have spun in every major city in the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast, to Seattle to Atlanta and from Boston, New York to Miami where I live. I have played in all the most important clubs in the country and I play internationally very often as well, in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Canada, Europe, Israel and Asia.

What has been your favorite gig?

This is a very difficult question. . .I have innumerable great moments and gigs that I remember with a big smile. I have a lot of fun in my current residency at The Manor Complex in Fort Lauderdale. I have a great time and appreciate every single gig, it is very exciting to play overseas as well and have wonderful memories of many gigs as I said. I played in Prague not long ago for example, it was a memorable night!

What separates you from other DJs?

Well, I hear all the time that my music is unique and fresh. I played in Mexico this past weekend for example, it was an amazing night. The feedback that night and for the most part is usually that I sound different, that I have a very European style, very high energy, uplifting and very driven. I have been able to make a name of myself for my different music style. You need to hear me to understand!

How did you get involved with Revolution and Parliament House for Orlando Pride? Tell me more about that?

Well, I have been playing at Revolution Club in Orlando every couple of months or so this year. The promoter, Jose Luis, have been bringing me to his highly successful events during this year and on the important weekends. They work closely with The Parliament House in Orlando and Drew Sizemore of the Parliament House heard me at The Manor and at Revolution and loved my music. So this time, both clubs decided to book me for such an important weekend for them such as Orlando Pride. I am very excited!

Other than DJing, what do you like to do for fun?

I exercise a lot, love to watch cartoons and I travel. Of course, spending quality time with my close friends during my time off which has been quite limited lately.

What is something about you that would surprise people?

I am a huge fan of SpongeBob SquarePants..I love to eat…love pizza and buffets. Believe it or not, I am very goofy behind close doors…not as serious as I look like (laughs).

What does the future hold for Oren Nizri?

I feel very blessed to see where my career is. It is almost like a dream come true. I love my work and would not change it for anything. Every year is just gets better and better and I feel very thankful for that. So hopefully, things will continue this way and more fans will love and support my music and I will continue traveling as much and bringing my music to so many different people and cultures.

What is your go-to song lately to get everyone on the dancefloor?

A bunch of them..I can mention “Release Me” by Zoe Badwi which is three years old but still makes people go crazy on the dance floor.
